I am a 11B SSG currently on recruiting duty. I wish to reclass to 35L under the current milper and bear messages. I have exactly 2 yrs remaining on my current enlistment. I come off recruiting duty in may of 2009, that is if I am not extended. I am being told that I am not eligble for extension for the requirement of reclassing to this MOS because I am in my re-enlistment window. I have spent hours on this websight, pouring through the AR 601-280, and all policy messages to see what my options are. It seems that there are exceptions to re-enlistment. One thing that I came across was that I could re-enlist at the school or up to 90 days after completion of the school. I guess my question is, what are my options and how do I go about excuting this reclass. I don't hit my zone B bonus until feburary of next yr. I would like to wait until then or at least until I know for sure I have a class date. Basically I am trying to not screw myself. On the other hand I want to get this started asap because I would like to know where I am going from here. On top of what are my options, how long is the school and is the DLAB required for this specific MOS? Would greatly appreciate any help or feedback.
Contact the MI/counterintelligence office at the nearest installation. Look for the 902nd MI Co, call them and ask. Also check the MI branch page on the HRC website.

The above site is the 97B/35L Branch Newsletter and has info about the fact that reclasses must originate from the CI world.

"Reclassification to MOS 35L
Soldiers wishing to reclassify to MOS 35L must contact the local Military Intelligence Office at their military installation. An agent will provide you with the required information for the packet and conduct the interview IAW DA Pam 600-8, procedure 3-33. Once the packet is completed the agent processing your packet will forward it to HRC. Once the packet arrives at HRC it takes 90 days for a decision. All soldiers will be notified via their AKO email address when their packet arrives at HRC."

I appreciate all the info. I have the numbers to contact someone now. Again, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I will still be looking on this forum for any more input on the subject.
