I came from the reserve to active duty in January as an E5 with an 18X contract. I've graduated Infantry and Airborne school and now I'm at the Special Warfare Center @ Bragg. I voluntarily withdrew from training because I pretty much signed the contract on a whim and I'm discovering this isn't really what I wanna do. Right now I'm sitting in limbo with orders to nowhere. What I would like to do is reclass to 68P. A friend of mine told me to fill out a DA4187 and my question is should I submit it here or wait until I get orders to somewhere. I'm not sure but it seems like if I wait until I get orders I may get stuck in an 11B deployment which I'm not terribly interested in.
You're not going to reclassify ... you'll be an infantryman until your 24-month reenlistment window opens and then you may be able to reenlist for Option 3, Army Training Reenlistment Option.
