Im a 25Q SGT and I will be gettin pinned in Sept 1st. SSG 25Q is an overstrength MOS and has an Y in the OUT Column. So I want to re-enlist in Sept for 25S but my BN retention NCO said I need a EL score of 117. So Is there a waiver? Can I volunteer for Airborne to get it? I mean does anyone know anything about this?

You can request a points waiver for reclass if your EL score is pretty close. But as of tomorrow 25S will be balanced for SSG, just FYI. Congrats on your promotion.

I appreciate the quick response, But where do I get this waiver Im not sure my BN Retention is aware of this or she wouldve offered it to me. So anymore info would be great.

Here are the qualification for 25S:

Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of MOS. Satellite communication systems operator maintainer must possess the following qualifications:
(1) A physical demands rating of moderately heavy.
(2) A physical profile of 212221.
(3) Normal color vision.
(4) Qualifying scores.
(a) A minimum score of 120 in aptitude area EL in Armed Services Vocational aptitude Battery (ASVAB) tests administered prior to 2 January 2002.
(b) A minimum score of 116 in aptitude area EL on ASVAB tests administered on and after 2 January 2002 and prior to 1 July 2004.
(c) A minimum score of 117 in aptitude area EL on ASVAB tests administered on and after 1 July 2004.
(5) A security eligibility of SECRET is required for the initial award and to maintain the MOS.
(6) Credit for successful completion of 1 year of high school algebra and science.
(7) High school graduate or equivalent.
(8) A U.S. citizen.
(9) Formal training (completion of the MOS 25S Course or completion of a MOS 25S Assignment Oriented Training Track conducted under the auspices of the USA Signal School) mandatory or meet the ACASP criteria per paragraph 9-5b(5)(b) of this pamphlet and in paragraph (a) and (b) below. Waiver may be granted by Commandant, U.S. Army Signal School, ATTN: ATZH POE, Ft Gordon, GA 30905-5300.
(a) Be eligible for SECRET security access under provisions of AR 380-67.
(b) Must have completed a minimum of 1 year of accredited college or technical school studies in electronics/electronic repair or have 2 years verifiable experience, combination of formal training and experience totaling 2 years in installing, operating and maintaining satellite communications systems. This experience must be Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) or Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) technology in the X, C, Ka or Ku frequency band for both transmissions and reception. The applicant should have associated base band equipment knowledge to include Multiplexer/De-multiplexer, patch panels and associated Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment.

Your Career Counselor can submit for a waiver through your new MOSs Proponency Office.

Just tell her to call the Brigade Career Counselor and he will be able to tell her what to do it's a 4187, we did them before in the rear.

Also, your EL score has to be pretty close to 117-120, depending on when you took the test. The only waivers I saw processed were for a few points. Have you checked out 25E or 25? I don't think there are any school dates right now, but hopefully in the near future there will be. You can always reup now, before the enhanced bonus expires and submit a 4187 for reclass later.

Usually they only give you three points.

Thanks alot for all the info, but it sucks. My EL score is a 101 (took asvab back in 2000), My GT is a 115 but they cant even help a brother out! ArmyReenlistment could you post the info for 25B. One more question If I retake my ASVAB out here in IRAQ how long does it take for my new scores to post to my ERB so I could reclass into 25S?
