I am wanting to find information on how to find my local Military Intelligence office. I am interested in submitting a packet for reclass to 35L and don't have the slightest clue where to start. I have visited the HRC site and it just says to talk to your local MI Office. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. I am currently stationed at Fort Campbell, KY.

What post are you located at? You are going to want to find the local 902d resident office if you are trying to find the local 35Ls. Have you ever seen one of those signs that say "if you see suspicious terrorist activity call xxx-xxxx"? Call that number.

You'll start and complete the process with your Career Counselor.

Soldiers wishing to reclassify to MOS 35L must contact the local Military Intelligence Office at their military installation. An agent will provide you with the required information for the packet and conduct the interview IAW DA Pam 600-8, procedure 3-33. Once the packet is completed the agent processing your packet will forward it to HRC. Once the packet arrives at HRC it takes 90 days for a decision. All soldiers will be notified via their AKO email address when their packet arrives at HRC.

Go with the 35M's advice. 902nd should in the base phone book too.

I am stationed at Fort Campbell, and no, I have never seen the sign saying "if you see suspicious terrorists activity call xxx-xxxx". Is the 902d MI located at Fort Campbell, or Fort Huachuca?

So the servicing Career Counselor plays no part in this process?

Not to my knowledge. From all the documentation I have read, it's just like the 31D Application process. I just can't find any information on obtaining a packet or where to go to be interviewed so I may obtain a packet.

Actually the 902d is located at Ft. Meade but they have what's called Resident Offices (RO) located all over the world.

As far as taking my advice; I'll be honest - I haven't really looked into what it takes to become a 35L, I was taking the OP's word for it when he said the application process needs to involve the local CI agents.

Here you go; I found this on Ft. Campbell's online phone book (which doesn't work with Mozilla Firefox if you try to use it with that):

Group Name Unit Abbreviation Position Function Name Work Phone
Other 902MIGRP CQ 798-2772
Other 902MIGRP CDR 798-2772
Other 902MIGRP XO 798-3682
Other 902MIGRP A2C2 OFFICER 798-3682
Other 902MIGRP 1SG 798-2247
Other 902MIGRP OPS 798-3682

I am a 35L in the 902d. I found the number on the Fort Campbell website. Go to Garrison, and phone book, under select unit 902d Military Investigation Group. All the numbers are there. Good luck in CISAC!

Thanks for all the help. One more thing I have a question about, does the CI branch have much pull in getting branch releases, or does branches even have a say if a Soldier is excepted by CI.

Are you basically asking if you can get out of your current MOS? What is it?

My current MOS is 15J20. The reason I ask that question is because I recently submitted an application to CID and it was subsequently approved. The problem was that once it was approved the MP Branch contacted my Branch and my Branch denied my release because they were short E4 and below. As I wrote above, I am a SGT (non-promotable). None of this made since to me especially when you tell me that you can't release me because the MOS is short and I am detrimental to the MOS, but yet there were five E4's to E5 and three E5's to E6 in June. Then, turn around and promote 23 E4's to E5 in July. Sorry for going on, just venting a little. But yeah the above narative was the basis for my last question.

Well your MOS is even strength and 35L at your rank is under strength...not sure how that will affect the outcome though. Might be better for AR to answer.

What do you mean by AR? If it's Army Regulation then I can tell you alot about AR 614-200 along with MILPER Message 08-057. I have done alot of research and all the documentation that I have found proves that my Branch Manager has no right to deny my release and to top it off HRC command is actually the approval authority for reclass into 31D and also 35L.
