I am currently a SPC(P). I was a 35L. As of Oct 1, I was involuntarily reclassed to 35N, due to DA directed MOS changes. Specifically, 35L no longer exists at skill level 1.
I was recommended for promotion by my unit on Sep 9. Therefore, I am in a promotable status. When Oct 1 hit, my ERB changed to read 35N. I have no qualms about reclassing, so that is not the issue.
When I was reclassed, the 35N appeared with a 4B ASI. According to everything I can find, including AR 600-8-19, it should be 4A, meaning I would still be eligible for promotion as a 35N during the reclass action.
The real issue here is that my ETS is 31 Jan 2010. My reenlistment eligibility is currently 9P, (not qualified in PMOS) due to the fact that I have not attended the 35N school yet.
With the 90-day window rapidly closing for me to re-up, I am trying to get things straightened out before the end of the month.
I've talked to the Ft. Riley personnel branch, and my NCO has spoken with the 35N branch manager and the BDE career counselor. We are unable to get any solid answers, so I am sending out this plea.
Here is what I need to do, and I have no idea how to go about it:
1. I need to get the 9P removed from my reup eligibility so I can stay in the Army.
2. I would like (though it's less time-sensitive) for my ASI to be changed from 4B to 4A IAW 600-8-19 (specifically stated in 1-31e.(2)) so I can be promoted.
Again, the deadline for my reenlistment is rapidly approaching, so any help at this point will be greatly appreciated.
