You are reclassing right? You are in the Army, right? Soldier's PCS, right? I dont see how you thought you would be able to stay at one place, reclass or not you will end up PCS at some point.

I though I still had 1 more year here at my duty station, now I report for Recruiting School 6 days after my wife is due and then have to PCS with an almost 3 month old.

I am sorry to sound harsh but...come on.

I feel you really I do I just bought a house like a year ago and now I have to PCS. Renting is my only option and I can only hope that's not a nightmare.

As for what TransAm said, how long have you been at your current post. The Army is all about moving, hack I hardly have been at my duty stations for more then 1.5 years, no this last station is a little different but they had me moving at my 1.5 year mark. There is a spot in your AKO where you can attempt to get where you want, but sorry lets face it the needs of the Army come first and if your new MOS that your reclassing to is needed at one post really bad then you might just have to PCS there. I think they are trying to do away with the wish list, but I could be wrong. You can call your branch and worse thing they can tell you is your stuck. Sorry Frowner

Side note Trans have you called branch to see about a deferrement??

No, not yet K9nermp...I am waiting for my CSM to come back...Its funny they CC'd my 1SG and CSM when they sent me my course reservation email...I work in a MACOM so my CSM should be able to get it done easier than me trying to call and sound like another guy trying to get out of it.

Why would you loose your house because of this?

I think you're asking to remain at your current duty station, correct? If so, you can request TDY and return. This must be approved by the G-1/G-3 prior to reenlisting/extending and the unit/installation will have to pay for your TDY (which may be very costly).

If the need for the new MOS/rank is required at your current station, your staying in a FORSCOM unit, and your installation pays for it, you'll get TDY and return.

But, reclass or not you are going to end up PCSing at some point and you will "loose" your house...dont know what you mean "loose"...you can always rent, not the best choice but if you cant sell...and your kids will always keep getting bigger...and not to mention, you are the one reclassing and therefore moving b/c of your actions, so I dont see the issue here...if you dont want to move just yet, dont reclass...but then again you could come up on orders too...

I thought I had at least another year on station before I would get orders, haha, I am on orders now to Recruiting, just hit my 1 year on station last month, literally, I was inprocessing 1 year ago now I am on orders.

SGT ArmyWarrior,

What post are you at?

Do you want to stay where you are at after training? (TDY and return)

Good luck with that, it says right there you are exempt from Stop Movement which leads me to believe even if you were deploying, you would still go Recruiting.

I was going to respond but I lost my train of thought after reading all of the terrible English compacted into one thread.

I'm not trying to hit anyone personally, but if you are trying to communicate a question to other professionals please proofread your posts to make it easier for us to respond.

As for the first post, which is the worst offender, I think I've deciphered it...you are going option 3 Army training right? Usually that is your only option, otherwise you would technically be getting TWO options where everyone else is getting only one (you would be getting the training AND duty station of choice).

Here are my suggestions:

1) Don't re-up for training if it's that big of a concern. Re-up for stabilization, realizing of course that you will probably PCS anyhow at the end of the stabilization.

2) Continue the path you are going and realize you can't stay at the same post for 20 years.

3) See what AR is getting at as far as trying to get them to let you go TDY in return. I know some soldiers that went to DLI from Ft. Hood and went back after, but understand their MOS didn't change which has an effect.

4) Continue along the path you already are going but contact your branch manager of your new MOS and see if you can get assigned back to the same post after the training is complete.
