I came in 07/2001. I've reenlisted 11/2005 and I just reenlisted 02/2008 for 5 yrs. I also recieved a bonus for it. Now my MOS(25L) is overstrength in SGTs and I wanted to know how do I go about reclassing to 25B and would I have to pay the bonus back?

Because your MOS is overstrength and your requesting reclassification into the same CMF, it's very doubtful that the Army would recoup any of your bonus.

So how do I go by reclassing? Do I have to reenlist again or do I put in a 4187? Another tidbit piece of info...I'm deployed right now in Iraq until March 09 and I go to an ASI school for my current MOS(25L) from June 09-Sept 09. Its not a mandatory ASI, but I would like to take it while I have the class reserved for me.

Since your MOS is overstrength, you can reenlist for Option 3, Army Training Reenlistment Option outside of the normal 24-month reenlistment window.

If you reenlist for Option 3, your ASI class seat may fall off the system; which one is more important?

I talked to my reenlistment NCO, and she said that because i reenlisted when my MOS was a critical MOS and i couldn't change without the Army recouping the money. Is this true?

Talk with an actual Career Counselor and not a Reenlistment NCO ... Reenlistment NCOs are very useful for general information, but when you need specific career guidance, you must see your Career Counselor.

AR 601-280, para 5-14(7) states the following:

(7) A soldier will not forfeit any portion of an SRB when completion of training results in PMOS reclassification into CMF 18 or within the same CMF, unless otherwise directed by HRC-Alexandria because of technical disqualification or MOS disqualification due to soldier’s own misconduct.
