I'm SPC(P) Berryman. I have 6 years and 3 months TIS and 4 years 8 months TIG. I will be promoted to SGT 1 Sept. 2008. My deros is 6 January 2010, and my ETS is 25 January 2010. I'm trying to change my MOS from 63B to 25B. Currently getting a degree in Network Systems Administrator and would like to change. I also would like to AIP for one year here currently stationed in Korea. I would have to re-enlist to cover this time. I want my son to graduate high school instead of moving more than once. My retention NCO claims I have very few options in doing this. The MOS is listed in the BEAR program, but will not except SPC (P) and above. I read earlier in a post that they do not have any seats available. I want to volentarily reclass but not sure how to do so or if I can. I also read an earlier post that said put in a 4187 and my current unit would have to pay, maye they will maybe they won't. It is a Signal BN. I'm curious if my branch will even let me out of my current MOS. I also had a few other MOS's in mind, like the 25N, 94S, or anything in the computers and technology or electronic repair MOS's. If anyone could help in pointing me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

As of 21 July 2008, 25B is no longer on the BEAR Program. Also, since your MOS/rank is shortage, you can extend under the BEAR Program, but only as an exception in the following MOSs:

CMF 18, MOS 21D, 21P, 35L, 37F, 38B, AND 89D

Also, you can only request the above MOSs if you submit a voluntary reclassification ... because you're in a shortage MOS.
