I am a SGT 52D(Overstrength at current grade) submitted Voluntary Reclass to 94D(understrength at current grade). More than likely this request will be approved based on current IN/OUT Call Message. My DEROS is 20 APR 09 there are School dates for 94D 27 Mar 09 and 15 MAY 09. Is it possible to attend the March class and leave Korea 3 weeks early or will I have to stay until my DEROS. I have heard different things from different people. Some say if it is less than 30 or 60 days it may be possible, others say no way I will leave before DEROS. I really would hate to stay in Korea past my DEROS if they give me the May school date. If anyone can shed some light on this subject I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I have a soldier who is reclassing and his deros was Feb 09 but the only school date that was open for him was in august so they pushed his deros date back like 6 months until his school day but he could have went to school before his deros date but was told by the retention guy that he couldnt take the earlier unless he planned on coming back to germany. So from what I know you cant get out of ur deros.
