I was a prior Marine and had time in the USMCR as well. So when I decided to go active Army I had to reclass. Since I did the whole Marine Corps boot camp I didn't have to go to Army IET'land. But..... I was sent to FT Jackson, to get improcessed into the Amry system. I was labelled prior service and stuck in what can only be described as "Army purgatory". For 6 months I sat around FT Jackson waiting for some person to up my request for an interim security clearance so I could attend 96B school in Arizona. During this "waiting period" the prior service hold-overs (we called ourselves the '25 to life crew') we were tasked out for every crap job that the POST could come up with. If you think that your Installation Support Platoon had it bad, think again. I know that the prior service inprocessing deal has been changed but the corruption and mis-use during 2000 and 2001 was eye opening. I seriously hope the former command of the 120th AG BN had a difficult time when we finally forced our way out. But as a prior service you will get your full issue of uniforms, boots, etc. You go through the whole medical process, dental, etc. If the stuff is still up to date then you can give them the copies, but you'll still have to get an updated review. If there are any Prior Service Joes who had that ordeal at FT jackson let me know, I probably was there as the "improcessing NCOIC" if it was August 2000 thru April 2001.

At least in AIT, the reclass section had the most diverse and easy going group to get along with. Just don't mess or attempt to hook up with AIT Soldiers. That is a sure fire way to get into some serious trouble. It happens but the risk are too high for the pay-off.
