In 1993, I enlisted in the National Guard and completed 21C OSUT in Nov94. I served 10 yrs in the NG. In 2005, I enlisted in the Regular Army and completed 11B OSUT in April05. Currently I am serving in Iraq as a 11B, and would like to reenlist for choice of duty station for Fort Leonard Wood. My main focus is getting duty station at FLW. I would prefer to do so as an 11B, but my career counselor said that was not possible, and switching back to 21C would require me to do so as an reenlistment option and I wouldn't be able to pick my duty station. Is there any way I can accomplish my goal of choosing Fort Leonard Wood as my choice of duty station?
I don't think that there are PP Infantry Units on FLW. It's mostly a training post with the exception of the MP Unit, the 5th EN BN and 577. There are IN Basic Training Units there though. Would have a better chance as a 21chuck though because of the 50th MRBC. They went to this new modular unit crap so I have no clue what they'd be called now.

If there is no slot for you as an 11B there then you cant go, no matter how much you call branch or say you will reup for it for another 20 years in the Army...but you could try and do DS and see if you can get a slot there, but I dont know if Drill Sergeants get to pick where they go if they volunteer like Recruiters can.

If you have 180 days or more of AD time during USAR or ARNG you will be considered a Midcareer Soldier. Mids do not get the option to reclass for reenlistment. Both MOSs are Y/N in the In/Out calls. You could put in a reclass packet to voluntarily reclass. However I highly doubt they will approve your packet, but it is always a possibility.
I realy do not know and I think that it has become much more harder to pick a duty station then it is to reclass. I almost reclass, but then I changed my mind and stayed with my MOS and I did basic at Fort Leonardwood.

Since you are a mid-career Soldier (and if you're within 24-months until ETS), your Career Counselor may be able to submit an Option Exception for this MOS; although you will not be guaranteed a duty station after AIT, you can select up to 4 locations to PCS to.
Also, since you already attended 21C training, you may be able to convert your SMOS to your PMOS and vice versa. Your Career Counselor can determine if the 21C is good training for the MOS.
