I am a 21M(firefighter right now) on my 2nd enlissment was ARMY RES. frist. but i want to reclass to 19D. And my E6 wont help me out with anything. i told him that i want to reclass about 13 weeks ago. and yet he still think i dont want to reclass he wont help or tell me what i have to do. and the wrost thing is. He is also my Rent. NCO and says the only way i might be able to reclass is if and when my window open. But i know thats the case. So can someone please help me out. thank youo

Well if you were on ur 1st enlistment then u could renlist for it under option 3 but since u are on ur 2nd renlistment I dont think u can (someone correct me if im wrong) but u could look into the BEAR program but ur mos has to be at strength or over strength and 19d has to be under strength and that changes every month but if hes ur company retention guy u could with the permission or your chain of command go to ur battlion retention guy

anyway, its seems your on active duty now? if thats the case you wont be offered option 3. Like the previous poster said your best bet is looking into the BEAR program.

21M and 19D are both balanced MOSs and 19D is not on the current BEAR message. I guess you could put in a 4187 to request voluntary reclassification. The worst they could say is no and you know you don't have that option available to you. Regardless of your IN/OUT call you can reclass (if you meet the qualifications) into CMF 18, 21D, 21P, 31D, 35L, 37F, 38B, 79R, and 89D. However, you will have to be in your reup window. I have a guy who has already gone through all the pre-reqs for EOD, but his window doesn't open until Nov so he can't do anything until then. Unless your MOS is overstrength you have to wait until your reup window opens. Hope that help a little.

Check out the MOSs on the In/Out Call list. Look at all the MOSs that are Y/N which is the understrength MOSs. Find a few that sound like something you want and then check in the MOS Smartbook to ensure you meet the qualifications. Ok I am new to this thing so I dont reallyknow how it works. I am an E-4 and am about 3 months away from my 2 years in. My mos is 19d and I want to know how I would reclass to a 21m. I have my ifsac seals for firefighter-1, firefighter-2, hazmat awareness, hazmat-ops and driver/operator-pumper. I was a civilian firefighter for 4 years before I came in and now I want to try it in the army. I currently have a little over 2 years left in the army. Can anyone help me?
