I have been recently informed that I will have to reclass to 25Q and have been promptly slotted in the course on Fort Gordon. However, the thing is I am already stationed at Gordon...

So- I was just curious how the 'housing' situation might work for people already here. Most people come TDY and such, and are put into a barracks for the duration I presume. But since I already live here (and live off-post, actually).. will I be forced into the barracks with everybody else or will I keep my normal residence?

If you're collecting BAH because you have dependents, I'm going to say you're good because you haven't PCSed yet. However if you're given BAH due to non-availibility, I couldn't give you an honest answer. I wouldn't put it past Uncle Sam to move you into the barracks (and then make you move into a hotel when they realized that they had no availibility in the barracks as well)

Edit: on second thought I reclassed with an SGL at Gordon and she kept her housing.

You can still live off-post w/ your family.

You will technically be in a TDY status- but the barracks are full, there's no reason they'll try to make you move in.

I'll be in the same situation in January- I'm going to Warrant School in October, then the MOS training is 18 wks back here at Ft Gordon. I'll be TDY living at home. I'll be a student in the Same Brigade I'm in now as an instructor.
