Hey I had a question, I just reenlisted for 25P. I beleive the school is 26 weeks long at Gordon. I wanted to know if i am allowed to bring my dependents with me due to the fact that the school is 6 months long? and if I am able to bring my dependents would I be able to get housing on base? also would i be TDY enroute to my next duty station? Does anybody know? ThanK you all

AR 614-200, para 4-5b. Soldiers will be advised that family member travel and shipment of household goods to schools at Government expense is not authorized under Joint Federal Travel Regulations (JFTR) unless the Soldier is being assigned PCS to a school or installation to attend one of the following: (1) A course of 20 weeks or more. (2) Two or more courses for a cumulative period of 20 weeks or more at any one duty station. c. Family members will not accompany Soldiers ordered to schools from OCONUS commands at Government expense when they are scheduled to return OCONUS, regardless of the length of the course. However, if family members do accompany or join them at their own expense, Soldiers must be advised that they may encounter some of the following hardships: (1) On–post family housing is not available. Students normally are not permitted to live off–post. (2) In many areas, housing near schools or installations is unavailable or extremely costly. In some areas, if it is available, it is substandard. (3) Rigid training schedules often preclude regular visits away from school or installation.
You also need to see the special instructions on your orders for any other restrictions or requirements.

I just finished the 25P course your orders should not list your course as being more than 19 weeks and 3-5 days. When I got to Fort Gordon my orders said 20 weeks and I had to get them amended to state the above time. I know people that brought their families here but it just caused problems when they left. If you have anymore questions you can email me at ms_hehl@yahoo.com. I'm now stationed here so I still know people on the training side.
