The 101st Airborne Division (AASLT) Pre-Ranger Course is an intensive 13 day training period designed to teach, coach, mentor, evaluate, and prepare Screaming Eagle Soldiers and leaders in the fundamental Ranger infantry skills required to be successful at the United States Army Ranger School, Fort Benning, Georgia. The course will teach, test, and improve each Soldier’s physical fitness, knowledge of FM 7-8 (Infantry Rifle Platoon and Squad), and leadership skills that are keenly evaluated as a Ranger student in Ranger School.

Yes, you can fail the Pre-Ranger Course.

I have no idea what the actual graduation rate is at present; however, I can tell you that the graduation rate isn't bad. The people who don't make it through the course are the ones who fail the APFT, five mile run, and swim test (they may get recycled for failing the swim test--I can't remember), or the ones who quit. Generally, if you make it through the first week--RAP week--then you will probably make it through, that is, if you don't quit and stay healthy. You do, however, have a good chance of being recycled, at least once.

I don't know about the pre-ranger course attrition rate, but what I have read is that if you pass pre-ranger, you have something to the effect of having a 88-90% chance of passing ranger school. This was also echo'd by a buddy of mine from 2-14IN from 10th. I would check out the Ranger website. I know the SF recruiting has put together a packet that breaks down your chances of getting selected based on your apft test at in-processing as well as the timed 4 mile stress march
