Hello. Former Navy E-3 considering joining Army Reserve. Considering this route because I am 38 and there are more doors open in Army than Navy at this point. As I understand it I would have to complete the Warrior Transition Course at Fort Benning, GA.

Has anyone gone through or is anyone familiar with this course?

I have read the general guidelines, but I guess what I'm looking for is to know if this course is more like boot camp or more like AIT?

Are there restrictions, such as being locked down? Will I be able to leave base? Etc?

Thanks...

From my understanding with the one guy we sent there it was more like AIT. There will be down time but don't expect to be leaving post unless things have changed VERY recently. So bring a good book. and good luck you will be fine. But as a side note Prior Service is being more and more restrictive on almost a daily basis. From what I understand, on the Reserve side of the house you will have to keep a position that is the closest to your traing MOS in the Navy.
