Anyone either in, or gone through 13F in FY09, or 08? Can anyone tell me what the daily schedule is like? Do you guys ruck alot? What were the graduation requirements? Are terrain sketches hard? Are the scrutinized, I am not artist?

Do re-class soldiers get passes on weekends for travel to like OKC and stuff? I am a married, E4, 13B thinking of re-enlisting for the MOS and going to training in FY10 after I re-deploy from Afghanistan. What BN trains 13F these days? Back in 07 it was 1-78.

13F hasn't changed. I'm a 13F at Ft Sill. I have friends that are instructors over there. Yes it's at 1-78. The role of a fister has changed in the past years and what you do as a fister is mission dependent. If you're light inf, you may ruck alot verses mech where you'd be mostly in a vehicle. Yes Non IET soldiers get more time off than the new ones. You will get weekends. I suggest working on getting E-5 before you go to school.

Ok. Thanks for the info, but can you give me any information on the class itself? I mean I know we go to field, I know there is a lot of time on the call for fire simulator, the DMD and the classroom stuff, but is there alot of rucking during the course. I am using this time during deployment to get back in shape, was out of commission for 12 months after I broke my leg in three places. Just want to make sure I am completing tasks necessary to set me up for success prior to going to school.

Thanks again!

All the Way!!!

What does the job consist of? What can I expect during basic training and the A.I.T. training going in as an Spec-E4?
Enlisted in the ARmy National Guard Reserve for 6 years and got all possible bonuses.
Also am considering going straight to Afghanistan/deployment as soon as I complete my training. Any thoughts?
Much appreciated.

i went through AIT in fall of 08. and it was a 6 weeks long. the non IET students as i remember had it very no say easy but relaxed time. always got the weekends off and were most of the time let go early and were not messed with by the AIT instructors. as for ruck marchs while i was there we only did twice. and they were like 5 miles at a max. as for the call for fires you spend alot of time in GARFIST. or digital call for fire. i am no artist my self and the terrain sketches are ment so you can find and identify know points and if you were to be replaced by someone they as well would know what you are looking at and what your sector of fire is. and when you are at AIT they will teach you the best way for you to make a sketch. my daily schedule was something like this. wake up, PT, chow to class by 0800 come back for chow at lunch, then back on a bus for more class then back to the bays for dinner "personal time" and then hit the rack.

Good data! I am tracking now. How is your unit? Are you assigned to an INF Co or an Artillery BN? Were you IET when you went through? Are you airborne?
