This is a good move if you are looking to move into the civilian sector. Pay starts at $60,000.

21P SSG, Sounds like a great recommendation. I am looking at taking the BMST at Ft.Carson this week. I have been out of school for 11 years thou. How long have the promotion points been at 798? Is that the usual for promotions. I have a question that you might be able to answer, is there an expiration on line scores. I took my asvab when I returned from a break in service in 2003, and my line scores are 131 mech, and 131 elec.

Sorry for not getting to this sooner. I was in ANCOC.
Points have been high for a while now. In 2004 the Army temporarily let E5P's in to the School. Many of them were promoted in their old MOS during school. This created an overstrength situation that has taken a while to correct. The points should start to drop soon as those SSG get promoted, go Officer or get out. When I came over the points for SSG were 450 than jumped to 798. They tend to fluctuate a great deal based off of graduation dates. Feb, Aug.
As far as I know your line scores are good until you re take the ASVAB. I have been in for over twelve years and have had the same scores the whole time.
Good luck with your application. Send me a message if you are having any trouble.
I realize this is an old topic, but the MOS has caught my attention. Upon some research though it sounds like the actual MOS has quite a few different options for the schooling you go through. Which specialty did you choose? How was the training and how long was it? What are your daily operations like in garrison and while deployed? Thanks for any help.
i am trying to reclass to prime power but the link that is on this page doesn't work for me. My retention NCO is also having trouble. Is there someone i can send my packet to or another link to try
I am currently a student at the Prime Power School, so if you need any help or have any questions, PM me. Your first step should be taking the BMST at your education center.
Good luck!

i am curently deployed in iraq was formeley an electrician on the civilian side. I'm on my 2nd term reenenlistment as an 11b looking to reclass to 21p not scheduled to return state side until march 09 what steps do i need to take to reclass i know i need to raise my gt scores to meet criteria. is there anything that can be done prior to redeploying stateside any answers would be great thanks sincelerey
Your best bet is to brush up on your math. This will help you a lot in school. Since the first 4 months math. If you have not taken the BMST you may want to get ready for that because most people are unable to get a 70 on the test. Try talking to the prime power that are down range in your area. We are all willing to help you get in the mos.
