I was recently accepted to go to the ASAC (CID), however, I've also come under orders to deploy at the end of September. My school date is 1 April for ASAC, and I believe my stop loss/stop movement is not effective until mid May. Since ASAC is approximately 3.5 months long, what type of situation am I in? Will I be allowed to go to the 1 April class, or since the class will extend into the stop loss, will I not be able to go?
Assuming that I am allowed to go, will I be forced to deploy once I've completed the course? Or will I be allowed to move onto my next duty station with my new MOS?
SL/SM is effective 90 days prior to deployment, only the BEAR Program has an exception to this policy; but seeing how you are scheduled to attend school prior to your SL/SM, you should still be on track to attend the class. You should also be going in a TDY enroute for CID and not returning to your current unit.
