I am trying to find out how to revoke my DCSS, and if I do reenlist do I really have to go to the duty station I signed the dec for?

This is the instructions we use to remove a DCSS:

You'll also have to make a statement for the packet telling the Army why you did what you did and why you have reconsidered.

Will you be placed back on assignment to the same location?
Depends on if the location has slots and your Career Branch deems it necessary to put you back on assignment.

The reup for my unit is a CPL that does not know what he is doing. What is the format for the 4187 and attached memorandum?

You will not be dealing with a company Reenlistment NCO.

Go see your battalion or brigade Reenlistment NCO or Career Counselor to get this initiated.

Good luck with that. My friend tried and not even with the Chain of Command support did he get it removed, he signed it and made cut off for SGT the next month, needless to say he didnt get promoted.

I signed a DCSS statement in Jan 08, my ets is 9 Jan 09. I was originally on orders to Korea. I didn't have enough time in service to finish the tour. I had no problem with going to Korea. The issue was that I had NO options for reenlisting, except reclass which I did not want to do at the time. I was E-6 promotable and in ALSE School at the time and lined up to go to BNCOC Ph1 and 2. before leaving for Korea. I want to reverse it now because I was no properly informed. I didn't know that I was going to lose everything until the day I signed the paperwork. I was notified that if I didn't reenlist or sign a DCSS that I would be "decked" anyway. I came down on orders 29 sep 07, and signed a DCSS on 18 jan 08, which is beyond that 45 day limit. I did not go to a levy brief. I was not counseled by the 1SG or the CDR on the effects of the DA form 4991-R. Now that I have researched this, I want to reverse my DCSS. Except I have no idea where to start. I have talked to the Career Counselor and he just referred me to the BN Reup NCO, I rec'd an email from BN reenlistment NCO and he said that I have to do the paperwork and submit it through him, along with excerpt of the AR that covers "Disposition of DA Form 4199-R". I have contacted career counselors at other posts and no one seems to know how the 4187 should be filled out. Is it me or is this ridiculus?
