I know for most this is going to seem like a silly question, but I've googled it and for some reason can't seem to find who the actual 5 surge brigades are. It's more of a curiosity thing, but it's one of those that just bugs the mess out of you....

OPSEC

It was not an OPSEC issue at the time, so I'll tell you what I know. 4/2 SBCT from Lewis was the 4th of the 5 to reach theater. Two others are from the 82nd and 3ID.

OPSEC Question -

If it is not classified, does it still fall under OPSEC? Our DIV PAO stood in front of my BN and said "if it's not classified, the enemy has access to it, whether you tell the media or not, so it's not wrong to talk on it." However, AFN commercials go on & on about unclassified info are little pieces of a puzzle, that when put together, can make us vulnerable. What's the deal here?

I see what you're saying about the OPSEC, I see the same commercials on AFN. MY guideline here is that it already i or was in the media. Being in one of the surge brigades, the media published all the info about us, which brigades were from where and when they would get to theater.

Im in 3rd Brigade 3ID, we were the 1st surge brigade... were back now, so dont cry about opsec...its no secret
