Going to need a bit more information other than, "might be headed that way..." to help you on that one! I mean after all this is Ft. Bragg, Home of the Airborne and Special Operations Forces..." Do you have pinpoint orders or know what unit you might be going to? What is your MOS? All of 82D re-deployed recently so you do the math there. If you give me the rest of that data i might be able to help you out more.

My husband and I are both 63B (mechanics), non-airborne. No pin-point orders, but all of my requisitions on ASK say 82nd. My branch submitted the request for us to report in October, but we have EFMP and they have to check that first before we come on orders. I'd like to deploy...
Don't worry about the EFMP needs....I am sure there will not be any limitations. WOMACK Hospital has just about everything you need. Also Cape Fear Valley Medical Center handles certian Tricare referrals. If you are going 82D you could be going anywhere in Division. Prior to June I would have told you not to be concerned that Deployment was coming up until sometime after Jan. But my unit was absorbed by and re-flagged under the 82D in July. We are an Artillery BN and are deploying sometime between early jan and Mid March. No exact dates yet, but orders are in hand....OPSEC reasons of course.
I know that our Forward Support Company is short alot of 63B's due to reclassifcation of some of theirs for Mission Requirements so with us going over the pond there is a good chance you guys would be put on our high priority list.
If you need anymore data or help just let me know!!
By the way, the non-sirborne doesn't really matter here anymore. I know guys that have been here for 4-5 years and still arent ABN yet. Depends on the unit, but even the ABN units have only a limited number of ABN slots, or paid parachute positions as they are called.
All the Way!!!!

Depends on what you are used to.....and how many kids you have. to be honest, the more you have the chances of getting a better home/location.
My wife and I lived off post for over a year, because the duplexes they had here looked straight ghetto! We waited over a year for a single family rancher, which we got lucky because it is on a cul de sac, because all that was availble immediately were duplexes.
The nicer the homes, the bigger they are, the longer the wait. Although it is coming towards the end of prime PCS season. You might get lucky. Check out www.braggpicerne.com for floor plans, wait times etc....
Our neighborhood is awesome, house is a little small (we are just a family of 2 with a little bun in the oven), neighbors are great!

Aww Congrats on your little bun. We only have one little one, and we lived offpost in Germany so we know how to survive without the PX down the street. Still no orders...the branch manager said that it would take a few weeks to hear back from ya'lls EFMP office to see if they could handle my son there.
If we come to a unit that is not deploying, is it easy to volunteer from that post? I am having a tough time volunteering from here. It's horrible!
