I was there from Sep 03 to May 04. I was stationed at BIAP and covered the electrical reconstruction of the southern half of the country. I think I've actually been to or thru every town south of Bagdad. I also helped install the main distribution grid in Camp Victory. I'm currently in Afgahnistan and will end my 6 months here in June. So I will probably be back in Iraq by October this year.

LMAO
the question nowdays should be who hasn't been there? I can honestly say been there done that got the ribbons to prove it and more than likely i'll be back to enjoy the warm loving people and the beautiful weather once again soon. I love the the Army's way of allowing me to see parts of the world no one in their right mind would go to visit for vacation, or go to live. However through all of crazy deployments to some of the crappiest places on the planet I am still proud to be a soldier and within a year i will deploy with my brothers and sisters BACK again the (the nickname we have here for IRAQ) litterbox.

Dec 04 - Sep 05. Basically a vacation since I stayed at the hospital in the Baghdad Green Zone, so, it was just hot, dusty, and smelled really bad there. I was also in Camp Liberty/Victory, and the other half of my unit was in Tallil. It was great, but the next deployment will probably be a lot more like a battlefield, hopefully.

I went over the sand-dune back in March 03 and hung around Umm Qasr near a small encampment called "Camp Freddy" with the British. Stayed there until August 03 came back to see my wife leave me and then got orders to go back to Iraq in JAN 04 for a year. I was at Camp Victory (South Victory side- "Who-ville"). But we moved all around Iraq with some teams I was working with. A lot of team riding in the Red Zones.

Been there once. Going back again. Dont know if I want to deploy with 3rd ID or go to Hawaii and go with 25th ID.
East Baghdad, best signal network in 3rd ID, convoys all around Baghdad.
Best accomplishment of the deployment, worked with the Iraqi's during the DEC elections, held comm's for couple of weeks and elections went for the most part flawlessly.

Been there twice with 3rd ACR. First time was 03-04 then 05-06. Best two years I have ever had. Lots of crappy times but got some great stories and better friends out of it.

You can push them out of a plane, you can march them off a cliff, you can
send them to die on some God-forsaken rock, but for some reason you can't
slap them.

Who were you with on Camp Taji? I was with the Combat Aviation Brigade.
