According to AR 600-8-2 Chapter 2 Section V it states that "Soldiers will not be retained beyond ETS, ESA, MRD solely because they are flagged." Does that mean that one can not be stop lossed if they are flagged.
No it means that they can't be stop lossed just because they are flagged. There has to be more of a reason for it. It's not in any way saying you can't be stop lossed because of a flag...

No all that section means is that just because you are flagged you cannot be stopped from ETS'ing. For example your commander cant say well Joe since your flagged you wont be leaving the army until your unflagged. Stop loss is different.
Well the way I see it, and I am no expert on this, the reason for stop lossing someone is there is a critical shortage in that MOS. And stop lossing someone even if they are flagged is much more efficient than trying to fill that slot with a new PVT. Since most of the time your stopped lossed to fill a deployment slot. I have known lots of troops who are flagged and still mission effective.
