You will receive an LES before every pay day. This is like a pay stub that shows you the amount of your Base Pay, and your net pay, once deductions are taken out. There should be a Box under your name labeled "Entitlements". This is what your Base Pay (Gross Amount), the next box over is "DEDUCTIONS" (federal taxes, state, social security, etc. The box to the far right "SUMMARY" (explains how much your base pay is, minus any deductions, and Net Amt. Your primary focus is NET AMT (Net Amount) also located in the box under SUMMARY. Right now, you will be getting paid once per month most likely. In the top right hand corner of the LES states "Period Covered". Study your whole LES to get to know what is on there, it's important. This website may better assist you. I hope this helps! http://www.dfas.mil/militarypay/militaryemploymentverif...reading_your_les.pdf
