What DQ'd you from a Top Secret but still allowed you to obtain a Secret clearance? Just so you know, Thisguy, you have a really sweet gig doing 37F Active Duty. It is almost all reserves and a VERY mall portion is Active Duty. I heavily considered it but ran into a brick wall with the DLAB. If you don't like it then there is prolly something wrong with you. Out of curiosity what were you origionally considering as far as MOSes.

Corvette, alcohol use in my past. I listed I had been intoxicated 10 times in the last 12 months which I thought would be no big deal, especially since I am in my last year of college. The secret clearance form doesn't even mention alcohol consumption. When the interviewer said I was DQ'd, he called whoever it is that he talks to and asked if I would be eligible for the secret, and the lady told him I could but I needed to watch my drinking.
I wanted some sort of language training for my MOS and that is all I was basically looking for. 37F is the only one that didn't require a TS. Beyond that, my best friend is stationed at Ft. Bragg and works across the street from the PSYOP and Civil Affairs groups. I asked him if he could pick any enlisted job in the Army which ones would he pick he said 37F would definitely be it. He met a few of them in Iraq and they all said they love it. I am just wondering what you do day to day whenever you are not deployed? On another board I frequent, all of those in that MOS said they deploy all the time but are not part of the "big Army" so they pretty much do what think needs to be done to accomplish their mission each day without someone breathing down their neck.
When can you take the DLAB again? The thing is definitely hard man...very stressful. I am sure the 4-6mo spent learning language and culture after airborne school (which is another nice perk of the job) will be just as hard. I have a long year ahead of me next year for sure, but I am very excited for the opportunity.

You're not "deploying"- that means you're headed to a Combat Area.. Usually you'll have a few days of inprocesssing before you actually start= get issued uniforms, cut your hair, get some shots, all the good stuff. You start to get comfortable, thinking "this ain't so bad," then you leave "Reception" and the fun begins.

25 Bravo Ship 20091310 for none other than Ft. Leonard Wood. Most of you will be coming in as I'm moving out of the white phase. I'm glad I will only be in there from October through January. I can't even begin to imagine how hard the cold sucks.
