Can a detailed recruiter become involuntary converted to 79r? Is there a regulation or MILPER message that supports it? If so, what's the likeness this would happen presently?
The reason I am curious is because My Board File has me being looked at in two promotion boards.. 11B and 79R... Do I need to be worried? Thanks.

OK SSG, you should really read MILPER messages regarding promotion, it CLEARLY states that any personnel either currently or previously served as a detailed recruiter CAN check the block on their board file to be looked at for 79R for SFC. NO, it is not mandatory or involuntary, if you check the block, if you do not make it for 11B, and USAREC needs 79Rs, they will look at your packet and decide if they want you, if they accept you, you will get SFC and be reclassed to 79R, but it is YOUR CHOICE!

Now, when I was in recruiting we had 79Rs that had been involuntarily reclassed to 79R in the past, but that was a long time ago and they were currently serving as detailed recruiters when they made them reclass.

1. What's the deal with your CAPS Lock button.
2. So... You say I won't be involuntary converted... Yet you state it has happened in the past.. Do you have a crystal ball?
3. Thanks for stating the obvious about my board file..you are a great American.

Yay, normalcy is restored. You had a question, he answered your question. He also said when he was in recruiting but that was a long time ago, probably when recruiting sucked the worst. Probably made them reclass because they couldn't get enough volunteers. Is it going to happen today? Probably not, the Army is downsizing and recruiters are not immune to this trend. So you can potentially double your odds of making SFC, if that is what you want. The ball is in your court.

I said that it wont happen during your FY14 SFC board unless you click the button and say you want to be looked at. The situation I described was when USAREC needed a lot of station commanders and they involuntarily converted recruiters at that time, that could happen at any time, not just during promotion board time...dont like my CAPS? get over it...

Thanks for the keen reply. Pretty much have come to realize from word of mouth that they are just waving a carrot in front of my face.
