If you look at a few post I was asking about vol. for recruiting. Well DA got me the day I got the CO to sign my paperwork. (Kinda ironic I guess) Anyway I'm supposed to call for a interview? If that is true when is the best time for me to call, casue I've called 3 or 4 times and don't get an answer. Also other then the DA forms that make up the CO packet the Mental eval, and the ERB anything else that needs to be in the DA packet? Thanks for everyones help that has helped me.

Ok seriously I'm trying to ask for actual help. I'm sick of hearing from everyone how screwed over I'm going to be. I get the picture. The first time it was funny yeah whatever last 200 times not so funny. I was going to volunteer for recruiting anyway. I already had my packet together, and I already had an idea of what I was getting myself into. If you don't have answers to my questions then don't post stupid answers.

Congrats Stone. I was trying but the DA didn't want me and I came up on assignment to Germany so maybe I'll try again in a few years. Maybe I can make SSG and become an instructor but I have to get into the force generation side somehow. Or get into that contracting MOS.

Ok smarty pants, If you really want it broken down to you, and not a stupid answers go to a recruiting station and ask a recruiter how a typical day is, no better yet I'll how it is. Especially in the life of a DA recruiter. Have your parents ever taken you somewhere you didn't want to go and you was just ready to go? Just imagine feeling like that for 36 months... There is a diff't kind of leadership out here the kind that leave you out there flappin' You can't even explain it. And if you have a family, you can really forget being happy. You are working 12 hours a day, Mon through Fri, and then Saturdays. Come on now where's the down time? As a veteran of 4+ tours, I got more downtime out there than right here in the States. My wife and I argue more than ever because I'm here, but it's like I'm deployed. You know what it feels like to have your five year old tell you that you're never home. trust me big tough guy that shit you are hearing is the truth, man you got this whole thing twisted, and this crap will not help your career....if you put in enough contracts, they'll give you a promotion, but what's a promotion if it's not earned the hard way by soldiering, leading and mentoring soldiers, not by how many contracts I can produce in a month....I'm just telling you how it is. I'm off to do bigger and better things, hey if you want to get lost in the black hole that's you. Have Fun...

with all due respect sf_soldier, i work 13-14 hour days 6 days a week as well, and my wife and i seldom have problems...
...i'm not trying to wander too far off the path of the original post, but it's all gonna depend on how much your spouse understands the army...i've been in only 2 1/2 years and my wife understands just fine that i'll leave at 0445 and i'll return at 1900...
...what i'm trying to get at is, in my opinion, it will be what you make of it...most da selected recruiters don't wanna be there and thats why they hate it so much...whereas those who volunteer, like numerous nco's i work with, loved it...if you think it's gonna suck, it will, if you think it'll be a great learning experience, it will...but thats just my 2 cents from a dumb little specialist...
I am a soldier, I fight where I'm told, and win where I fight.

Everyone who has never been in recruiting is always the first to say it is what you make of it.
Well let me tell you that recruiting breaks you down! For every reason you joined the Army, recruiting in some form or the other is the exact opposite. It takes what you love about the Army and snatches it right from you, and you are forced to deal with a part of the Army that could care less about you, your family, or your best interests.
So its great to say "oh its what you make of it", but you really are clueless as to what recruiting is really about.

So True, so true. Everyone understands that without RECRUITING there is NO ARMY, but being out here doing it is another story. And for the E-4 Who says it's what you make it, come on back out here, be sure you box for the quarter, with one quality and one other each month, then tell me that story. You see you are still looking at things from your perspective.
