Ok, first off I am new to the community. I have been a successful recruiter. Got the ring awards and all that stuff. I've hated this duty just as much as the next guy. But my question is How close to your AEA date does USAREC release you from your fence??? I have called my branch a few times and she tells me Im not released yet. I am about 2 and a 1/2 months out from my AEA date. And of course I cannot get an assignment until I am released. Can anyone give me an answer on this? Thanks

Hey SSG Clark,

Sorry I dont have an answer about your questions but I would appreciate it if you could give me some info on how Recruiting is right now, specially in Houston, since thats where I am trying to go Recruiting at.

You can send me a Private Message if you want.

Again sorry for not having an answer for you.

SSG Clark,
You might want to go through your BDE career counselor. They may or may not be able to help you get the fence lifted but it is how I managed to get around this obstacle in 2006. I had to reenlist though for a duty station of choice at that time and only did so because they were involuntarily extending recruiters then. I am not sure if they will help you out if you are not in the zone for reenlistment though. Have you informed your Branch Manager that your AEA date is within 2 1/2 months?

Well I did talk to my Career Counselor and they were really no help. I'm not sure if thats really they're lane. Especially if Im not within my 2 yr. re-up window yet. I guess what im asking is if anyone has PCS'd or is PCSing. How soon out did they get they're assignment. I really dont want to call USAREC Strength Mgmt because we all know how shady USAREC is, I call them and ask a question and they extend me or something crazy.

SSG Clark,
I am back out in recruiting for the Gold Badge recruiter TDY and have 3 soldiers in this station who are within 6 months of PCS'ing (between October-December). All of them have orders in hand. Not sure why you are getting the run around though.

I am not on recruuting duty but was fenced an unable to receive an assignment cause of deployment. I contacted my branch manager on wednesday, he emailed back saying I was fenced and he needed to submit paperwork to get me unfenced. On friday i was unfenced, by monday my ASK was updated with an assignment. Currently have 4 months left in country.

man! my AEA date is 2008/10 and have not heard anything yet. Im still fenced in. Did they have to call to get released or was it automatic? Are they USAR or RA? If they are USAR then they get their orders 6 months out. If they are active they are fenced until released

SSG_Clark,

There is an AD Recruiter in my office that had to call USAREC to get "unfenced". He called them and once he was clear he called his branch and received orders.

I beleive all three of them called their branch managers and got a choice of duty assignments. They are all RA and two are 11Bs and one 31B.

Had they been extended already? Or did they just do they're time. I'm kinda uneasy about calling USAREC for anything...lol

He was calling to see if he was going to be extended and they told him no he wasnt on the list. So they removed his hold.

For future reference, if anyone is PCSing from recruiting its quite simple to get on assignment. I called USAREC strength mgmt. Asked if I was getting extended and they told me no. What needs to happen after that is call your branch and find and get an assignment that you want. Then your branch must hand carry the requisition to the Recruiting Branch and they put you on assignment. The only catch is that the report date must be 60 days after your AEA end date. That 60 Days is used for PCS leave.
