Ok, here goes! I'm currently deployed to Iraq for the 3rd time since the war started..one 14 month tour..one 12 month tour and now my third a 15 month tour that is coming to an end here shortly. I checked my AKO email yesterday and apparently I have been DA selected for Recruiting Duty..LOL..I laugh because if I don't, I will cry. The bad thing is, all I have ever heard about recruiting is negative..I have yet to hear anything positive about this duty. I don't think the concensus could be wrong. The good thing is, I am single - no wife - no kids. I was starting to wonder when I would get a break from Deployments. I was even looking forward to heading to Afganistan in 2010 because I was so tired of seeing Iraq. Well, I guess my break came in the form of an email. If I could call it a break. I have read numerous comments on here and obviously I am heading in to another battle of the war. Which brings me to my question. I have terrible credit..I mean a beacon score of 500. I've had some charge offs and stuff like that. Will this be a disqualifier for me? Thanks for any and all comments. Facts and opinions are welcomed.

Congrats on getting selected???? LOL. I just left recruiting after about a year, i'm off to do something else. Recruiting sukks.. that's the bottom line. I escaped without any RI's or without losing my family, but it sukks. The hours are long and you will work weekends. it was a little better for me because towward the end we got a station commander who hated recruiting almost more than I did, so he was never on our back about appointments makes, conducts or any of that other USAREC BS that doesnt get people in the Army. My last 3 mos my station mission boxed by category, so it is definitely a challenge. I came from the Special Forces side of the Army to recruiting so the deployments, I've been on them. Being a recruiter is a culture shock. It is not the Army as you know it. You do have a plus on your side that should get you through. You're single....So your wife or your kids aren't going to call you at 1900 on monday evening wondering if you're going to be home by 2200. now your credit...Man you've been on multiple deployments, your credit should be immaculate. my best advice to you is get in touch with the local Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) use this one, the others are probably fake. Get rid of those charge-offs and all the small stuff first. If you get most of it taken care of by the time you get to school you should be good. Good Luck!!!
The horror stories are true. I just left recruiting about a month ago. I am married and it was tough on the family due to the hours. I worked with a single guy as well and he hated it because he did not have time to go and have a life and the girls that he met he had to be careful because if they were of potential recruit age (17-42) by regs you can not have a relationship with them. I know the drill and I have heard it over and over that if you are successful your time will be easy.....I was a top producer for our station and I never saw any difference between thoughs that did well and thoughs that just got by. I earned the recruiter ring and I worked the same long hours as thoughs that were zero rollers. As for your question about credit. I dont think that they look as hard now as they use to. USAREC is trying to flood the market with recruiters right now and in order to do this they are a litte more lacked on the rules. Good luck to you.
Good Credit, Bad Credit, or No Credit at all...you're going on recruiting duty...lol. Once USAREC sinks they're teeth into you the rules go out the window...

NOPE!!! We had several people bust tape and the school said they had until the course was complete to pass. That was the first and last time they said anything about it. They passed with no problems.

hahaha yeah right...you get taped when you get here, well you get weight and if you need to be taped you get taped...some people failed it, they are still here.

YO BAD CREDIT, NO CREDIT, JACKED UP CREDIT IT'S ALL GOOD IN RECRUITING. IT'S LIKE THE ROACH HOTEL ONCE U CHECK IN U CAN NOT CHECK OUT. BRO I FEEL FOR YOU BUT I CAN NOT HELP U. MY ROOMATE IN RECRUITING SCHOOL DID NOT EVEN FILL OUT THE FINANCE FORM. HE WENT AND CHARGED ALL KINDS OF CRAP TO MAX IS CREDIT OUT. GUESS WHAT I WAS STILL PUT OUT HERE. NO WAY OUT. USAREC IS THE MAFIA. BLOOD IN BLOOD OUT.
OTHER THING WE WERE TOLD THAT RECRUITING SCHOOL IS THE HARDEST SCHOOL TO GRADUATE FROM. I KNEW PEOPLE WHO FAILED PT ON PURPOSE. MY BOY RAN 22MINS. HE'S MIN TIME WAS 15:30. HE KNEW HE WOULD BE SENT BACK TO HIS UNIT. WHEN HE LOOKED AT HIS PT CARD THE GRADER WROTE 15:29. LOLOLOL. I TOLD HIM HE COULD HAVE WALKED WITH THE WALKERS. LOLOLOL. WE WERE TOLD IN ONE CLASS THAT A WE COULD ONLY MISS 12 QUESTION. WE WERE GIVEN A 40 QUESTION EXAM. AND TOLD ONLY TO ANSWER 30-40 AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT 1-29. THE SCHOOL IS A JOKE. THEY SHOULD JUST HAVE IT ON LINE.
