I was told there was a message that said if you wrote 50 contracts in two years while on recruiting duty, that you could get a release from USAREC. Does anyone know about this and can tell me where the message can be found?
That does not make sense, you have an average of 2 contracts per month, that's 24 per year. Two years would be 48, I don't think USAREC is going to let someone go a year early for writing 1 extra contract per year.

HELL NO!!!!! Who told you that crap? If you write that many contracts you will end up getting involuntarily extended. Heck, you may end up getting involuntarily converted to 79R ( I have heard of it, don't know if its true). I wish I could make you all wanting to come here understand what USAREC is like. THIS IS NOT THE ARMY YOU HAVE COME TO KNOW AND LOVE. TURN BACK WHILE YOU CAN!
Recruiting is not bad. Its USAREC thats bad. Which in turns makes recruiters hate recruiting duty. If these dinosaur 79R's out here learned how to take care of soldiers and families, the mission would get a little easier. But they believe in working everyone to the bone, hardly any time off, idle threats to your career...I've seen it all out here. Even if you make your mission you still get treated like crap.
The act of recruiting is kind of fun. However, the environment is one of the most negative I've seen in eight years in the Army, and it wears on you. Plus, with the advent of RecruiterZone and the online calendar, it's a micromanagement nightmare. My advice: just grin and bear it. Then nurse your stress fractured jaw from the forced grin.

RZone is an e-organizing tool designed to integrate all the pieces of a recruiter's toolbox into an electronic format. Efficiency wise, it's great. Saves trees too. However, all of your information can be seen by everyone from your station commander to the CG USAREC. Some days it helps you view your mission planning from a fresh set of eyes, other days it's like that big glowing eye fromt he Lord of the Rings watching your every move. I personally found more freedom in the paper planning guide era. I know the drill though, adapt, overcome, thrive.

Recruiting can suck if you have a Station Commnader or 1SG who was brought up to believe that the only way to motivate a Recruiter is to cuss him into the ground. I have only been on this detail for seven months and I worked for one of those. He knew I was doing what my plan said for the day (more on that in a minute), but if I was not making appointments, conducting appointments or testing an applicant, I was f*cking off. No other answers were allowed. My current 1SG will offer a suggestion to improve your recruiting efforts with every contact with him. I like that better.
As to Recruiter Zone... It is an electronic leash. You will be where you plan says you will be. No variance is accepted. You will make the contacts that your plan says you will or you will stay out until you make your personal goals. I have one contract this month, gave one to my station commander, who failed the ASVAB, and still have to write one Senior who will test above 50. I think I can do it, but if not it is not for lack of trying. If I fail, my CDR requires that I be counseled, in writing, in Class A uniform.
I have begun to like recruiting, but not the crap that I have to go through.
Does anyone know the chances of getting back on orders for recruiting duty after appealing a type 2 background check disqualification? We are less than 2 months out (unless we don't get those orders - sl/sm). School starts in Jan.
Recruiter Zone is USAREC's latest step toward complete recruiter micromanagement. Between your cell phone and your laptop you cant take a sh*t without your station commander knowing. Pretty soon I'm hearing ever recruiter's GOV will have GPS in it. Thanks God I will be gone for that.
But USAREC brings all this crap on themselves. They treat recruiters like crap, threaten them and then expect them to produce for them. So alot of recruiters are screwing off and are worn out by the BS. So they have no choice but to force feed production by miromanagement tools. Recruiter Zone being the latest invention. RZ would't be so bad if Station Commanders and 1SGs didnt use it to micromanage but to put people in the Army. I've been out here 3 years and I've been thru paper planning guides and LRL's. It was micromanagement also but RZ just makes is easier to micromanage from anywhere.
As a matter a fact my 1SG called me today. Here's how the convo went. "SSg Clark I see you have only made 27 attempts on the phone today and you planned to make 150. You must have been f****** off. Why didnt you stick to your plan?"
this is just a taste it gets uglier trust me...lol
