I really don't know where to start...but here it goes...I am a 63B20 (mechanic) currently stationed at Schofield Barracks Hawaii...it all started in May 08 when my wife's cousin that had lived with them for 15 yrs committed suicide, then on 26 of July 2008 her mom got killed by a wreckless driver while trying to cross the street in front of her house, that is when we had to go on a emergency leave for California, but 4 days after we got there we had to rush her uncle (one of her father figure..mom & dad divorsed at an early age) to the emergency room because his kidneys failed and is now on dialisys, and while at the hospital she found out that her other uncle (her other father figure) had been diagnosed with cancer, and her grandmother is currently in hospice and to top it off 2 weeks after we got back from california the older brother of the cousin that committed suicide had a stroke...

Now with all that happening on my wife's side of the family would that be enough to get compasionate reassignment to california since it's her side of the family and not mine ?

And now for my situation....I have a TCS orders for me to go IRAQ (issued 04 aug 08)and I have a PCS orders to report to Ft Hood (issued 05 aug 08) with a deros date of 20080815 (i was on emergency leave 26 July to 20 Aug 08) and a report date of 20081010 ..(it's 20081007 ..i'm still in hawaii)...My 1SG and CSM had tried to delete my orders going to Ft Hood so that I could deploy with the unit and have my wife stay in hawaii since we got some families, friends and social support group that could atleast help her cope with her situation...but to no luck..they could not do anything b'coz I am on an HRC take out list...I just do not understand on why all this is happening to me...you see I put in a 4187 for FSTE last april 08 and by May 08 my deros changed to 20100113 (that gave me the impression that my FSTE was approved) ...by 12 May 08 reenlistment eligiblity code 10 was on my ERB and asked retention if there is a slot for me available in JAPAN (been trying to get japan since I enlisted) but the Career counselor told me that I could not re-enlist for Japan because "I AM STOP LOSS"...but now I have to get out of Hawaii because my MOS is over strength on 25th ID...

I was finally told that I had to go my levy briefing this morning that is where I was told that I could put a DA 3739 and gather all nessecary information and medical records and give it to her in a day and signed by my Battalion Commander..
I guess i'm just confused for the fact that I tried everything with in my ability...but up to now I am still not getting a definite answer on my situation and when I do get my hopes up someone comes along and smash the $%^& out of it..

I guess you can say that my letter is about 25% Trying to find an answer and 75% Whinning...lol
I just had to let it all out..thanks for listening......

I guess when I put 75% whinning....people thought that I was not really looking for help/answers.......I DO !!...I really really do need some help...it's just that everytime I tell someone my situation they think that I was making it up....because if I had not seen everything by my own eyes...I would not believe the story either....

What is your specific question? Are you trying to get a compationate reassignment to California, stay in Hawaii or go to Japan?

the question is about the compasionate reassignment to california...because I just found out last night that her uncle's cancer spread all the way up to his lungs (it started as colon cancer) and the grandma's health is getting really bad ..does it have a chance of getting approved ?.....since it's my wife's side of the family and not mine ?

and about the part of me trying to stay in hawaii...it's just me trying to deploy with my soldiers, 'coz I felt like I was betraying them for leaving prior to deployment...and I threw Japan out there because japan had always been my dream station..

but right now my main focus is my wife's health since she is now suffering from depresion, anxiety and insomnia...that is why i'm trying my best to get california so that atleast she would be near family...

Not really sure about a compassionate reassignment for all that. I know it's a lot but there is not much that the PERSCOM, who is the approval authority will do for you the soldier. I really do think it sucks all that happened to you and your wife. I myself lost 3 of my grandparents over 2 deployments. The reassignments are for soldier issues and they are picky. You could have a "loop hole" if her family is your dependents. Say your taking care of her grandmother. That would be about all I could see happening though. Also they will look into if there is other family to help out also. Not really sure if you had a question but sometimes it does help just to vent on here and try to find answers. Not to sure if I helped but hope its something.

This is simply not true. I have received a compationate reassignment because FEMA bought my house cause it was in a flood zone. This soldier's wife is experiencing extreem trauma, therefore the Soldier is experience extreem trauma. I would say the chances are good of a compationate reassignment depending on how you word the request and if your command supports it. Realize tho that we dont have too many bases in California anymore... (NTC)
