What is the probability of getting deployed as MOS 68X mental health specialist? Is there any way to determine whether someone would be deployed prior to their first duty assignment? As a female in that MOS - where would I be deployed and what living conditions are to be expected?

Thanks!

Olivia

All depends on what post/unit you are assigned to. Some units go to Iraq some to Afghan, and as for living conditions it again varies by what FOB you end up on. I saw a few 68X on the FOB we lived on in 06-07 and it was hard buildings for work and living, hot chow and showers, ect. Most of Iraq is built up at this point. If you have any specific questions I'll try and answer them. Hope this helps

The probability of getting deployed is just as good as anyone else. You will not deploy prior to your first duty station. You have to be assigned to a unit first. And to do that you have to report into a duty station!

Now don't go saying that. I've seen E-8s with no combat patch. Some people have made a career out of dodging deployments.

Why are we replying to such old threads? Confused
