Your first response wasnt that bad… but you could have answered the question differently/better. In a real life situation you probably wouldn't have jumped to talking shit, or being a smart ass… And if you do talk to people that way ON THE INTERNET, don’t be pissed if people get lippy with you back.
With that being said, the following statement is a bunch of BS:
Not the OP's fault, I blame the Army (yes, a million situations/people tied into promotions) for promoting so fast with little or no Leadership.
First and foremost, you don’t know the OP so you shouldn’t base your judgment of his leadership on a forum post. Secondly I find it amazing that you a SSG knows better than the ENTIRE Army, an organization that has been around for 237 years, on how and when to promote people. I guess in the future all my promotion recommendations should be emailed to you first, for your golden seal of approval?
(See other people can use sarcasm and smartass’d comments to belittle someone, sucks when it’s a SFC doesn’t it SSG?)
The only people I ever really hear talk about this are those who either a) got passed by people junior to them in rank and are jaded by the situation or b) Mid-level NCO's (usually SSG's) who didn't /haven't been picked up for the next rank(usually E7) and complain that others get selected over them (probably younger with less “leadership” than themselves)
(See what it feels like to judge someone based off one random post on an open forum on the INTERNET??)
Bottom line, you could have just said: “Yes, you get about $2.50 - $3.00 a day for the length of your deployment… here is your regulation reference ____”. Instead you decided to be vaguely snotty/sarcastic/lippy and got angry when someone did the same to you… ON THE INTERNET.
By the way, if you havent noticed I keep stressing the fact that you are on THE INTERNET.. its not that serious..
