So I am on my first deployment and we have about 2 months left. Someone from S1 was in my office BSing and brought up the point that we get per diem for being here? Does anyone know if that is true? If it is how much did you get when you got back? Thanks!

Yes its true, you will get per diem once you get back from deployment. They pay it as one lump sum instead of paying it monthly. I tyink it was around $3 a day but dont quote me on that

^^^What he said^^^
So you have been a member on here for almost 4 years, which means you have more then a day in the army, you should be a SPC, and none of your NCO's or other SPC confirmed or denied this "BSing" that you heard? You should have been briefed before deployment by your finance, the guy's in your unit would have talked about it, and/or Google would have pulled this info right up. No offense, but have you been living under a rock?

Listen here guy I didnt ask for your mouth! We were BSing around and it was brought up oh BTW in case you didnt know type of thing. Its apparent that you are new here. This is a forum where people post questions and try and get answers. Nobody asked you to put your little prick on the table and try to show off. Do you feel better? I hope so! Maybe finance did mention that however that was 10+ months ago. Get off your high horse and if you must know I am not a Specialist. You need to come on here with some more tact. At least if you want to get spoken to in a civil manner!

Well excuse me Sergeant! Where were my manners and what was I thinking for bringing up facts? You are squared away and right on everything you just mentioned. Not only are you NCO of the Year, you also go around calling NCO's "guy" and "I didn't ask for your mouth". Hate to be one of your Soldiers and ask you if I got Hazardous Duty Pay over there.

Your on a public forum. Nobody has any idea of your rank. I can put SGM or CW5 as my picture, however that doesnt confirm I am that. Im not gonna sit here buying into this crap. When I said I dont want to hear your mouth it means answer the question or move along. Nobody who is looking for advice wants to hear someone come on here with ZERO tact trying to belittle them! Do you know the answer to everything? No im sure you dont. If you do its time for you to start sharing the knowledge not bashing others seeking it!

In saying all that. I am going to be the bigger man here and apologize for losing my cool. I really wish people would stop getting on here trying to talk smack because someone is seeking knowledge. Have a wonderful Army day!

Its his 1st deployment svt. You had 2 or 3 more than him.

I really hope in the very near future someone gives you just as ignorant of an answer for something you are new at. It will too Karma is a bitch that way.

I didn't really think that svt's answer was that bad or too smart-assed. Fifty's response was really over the top and not necessary. No one was trying to compare dick sizes, except maybe the OP with his responses. Then he goes on to say "he's going to be the bigger man and apologize" LOL. When you say "I'm going to be the bigger man", you're not being the bigger man at all.

How about you grow the fuck up a little there big sarge? Or at least get a little bit thicker skin, no one was "talking smack", as you so eloquently put it.

Thanks Erik, hit the nail on the head. I wasn't trying to be a smart ass. It just blew me away that he didn't know. Heck, before I did my first deployment, we all knew how much Per Diem we were getting once we got back.....15 months later. Then the fact he is a NCO asking this question, grinds my gears (IMO) because of the Army doing star MOS', SPC gets promoted, and has no clue how to be a Leader or tell their Soldier what their entitlements are. Not trying to stir things up here, but I felt that was the situation here. Not the OP's fault, I blame the Army(yes, a million situations/people tied into promotions) for promoting so fast with little or no Leadership. His response to me was over the top and not necessary at all, but if that's his tact, so be it, I don't work with him.
Corvette, hopefully that explains my reasoning behind my "ignorant of an answer". And I hope you didn't wish Karma on me because I'm a "SVT" guy and that's all you could come up with?
Bad luck is my middle name, so if you want to throw more in there, I won't notice which one came from you. Thanks for the offer though.

You know what, I don’t really post unless it has something to do with the OPs original post, but today I'm feeling froggy...

Your first response wasnt that bad… but you could have answered the question differently/better. In a real life situation you probably wouldn't have jumped to talking shit, or being a smart ass… And if you do talk to people that way ON THE INTERNET, don’t be pissed if people get lippy with you back.

With that being said, the following statement is a bunch of BS:

First and foremost, you don’t know the OP so you shouldn’t base your judgment of his leadership on a forum post. Secondly I find it amazing that you a SSG knows better than the ENTIRE Army, an organization that has been around for 237 years, on how and when to promote people. I guess in the future all my promotion recommendations should be emailed to you first, for your golden seal of approval?

(See other people can use sarcasm and smartass’d comments to belittle someone, sucks when it’s a SFC doesn’t it SSG?)

The only people I ever really hear talk about this are those who either a) got passed by people junior to them in rank and are jaded by the situation or b) Mid-level NCO's (usually SSG's) who didn't /haven't been picked up for the next rank(usually E7) and complain that others get selected over them (probably younger with less “leadership” than themselves)

(See what it feels like to judge someone based off one random post on an open forum on the INTERNET??)

Bottom line, you could have just said: “Yes, you get about $2.50 - $3.00 a day for the length of your deployment… here is your regulation reference ____”. Instead you decided to be vaguely snotty/sarcastic/lippy and got angry when someone did the same to you… ON THE INTERNET.

By the way, if you havent noticed I keep stressing the fact that you are on THE INTERNET.. its not that serious..

Your froggyness is off on the whole promotion thng and what I meant.

I am not the disgruntled SSG that "The only people I ever really hear talk about this are those who either a) got passed by people junior to them in rank and are jaded by the situation or b) Mid-level NCO's (usually SSG's) who didn't /haven't been picked up for the next rank(usually E7) and complain that others get selected over them (probably younger with less “leadership” than themselves)". I actually care about our junior leadership. I have no chance of getting promoted for the last 2 years when ZERO get picked up in my MOS. So you are correct, it's not that serious on the Net.
