What a difference a year makes. Last year, I submitted a warrant packet only to have it rejected (it didn't even make it to the board), because I wasn't an E-5.

Now the warrant proponent is accepting 251A packets from E-4's and from any MOS on a case-by-case basis. It's pretty much a moot point, because I expect to make E-5 by the June cutoff.

I have dusted off my 251A packet, updated it and sent it off again. I don't expect to be selected, but at least my packet can make it to the board this time.

Well all I can say is good luck. I have thought of that route many times too. you have just as good a chance as anyone else.

251A is very competitive but don't give up...you never know what or how many they will select. The more recommendations you can get the better. See if you can get one of the school warrants at Ft. Gordon to review your packet. They'll let you know what you need to do.

One of my SSGs just got selected 251A this last board.

I submitted the packet yesterday, so it would be pretty difficult for a school warrant to check it. Further, I am not stationed at Ft. Gordon, so I wouldn't know how to contact a school warrant.

To be honest with you, I really didn't want to submit the packet, again. However, I needed to submit it to have peace of mind about not quitting.

I would like to know the profile of a typical Q-S 251A applicant.

Let me know how the appointment goes. Are you scrubbing your packet for the July board?
