I am a soldier currently stationed in camp hovey korea. I have a question for anyone who can answer. Where can I find policies on wearing headphones? Now I know for a fact you can not wear them while in uniform. However what I want to know is when in civillians on post is it ok? Also when off post in civillians is it ok? I ask because the other day I had a warrant officer walk up and rip them out of my ears telling me that they were not allowed in, I was sitting on a subway, in civillians. So I would like to see the policy and if I can wear them I want to print it off.
On a side note did he have the right to pull the headphones out of my ear?
Thank you

1. Look at your unit policy, if they dont have one about that I am sure the 2ID CG has one...do you fall under 2ID? When I was in 2ID they got kind of crazy and said the only time you could wear headphones in uniform or not was in the gym working out or in your room, then they fixed it and said you could wear them except when you are walking around (SAFETY??)...if you were sitting somewhere in civilians he had no right to do that, unless they changed the policy again...specially pulling them off of you like that

Go to the 2ID website they should be there if not your unit should have them in the PAC/Orderly Room or S1.
SGT Mispeld,
The thing about the Warrior Handbook, if they come up with a new policy it takes a while for it to reflect on new books, so if you are walking around with a book from 6 months ago, but the CG 1 month ago put out a new policy...well your book is not going to help much.

While we are on the topic of headphones either in/out of uniform, what is the deal with male Soldiers wearing earrings while on post either in/out of uniform. Not sure why males would want to wear them but 670-1 states not on post, in/out of uniform, on/off duty. While I was at Jackson, corrected a number of Soldiers on this, most of them were in training at the PX but a few were perm party that would not listen. Why won't the chain of command put this policy out during weekend briefings? Can someone explain this?

WOW!!!! I am with you on this one, I am here right now and was wondering the same thing, how is it that they dont get these briefings or what?? and the DS' dont do anything about it either, walk by multiple "infractions" and just ignored them....You see:
1. Earings on males in civilians (thats a nogo) 2. Soldiers in ACUs walking and talking on cell phone 3. In ACUs wearing headphones 4. This one is everywhere, wearing that one strap backpack or their computer bag across their chest.
And most of this is not that they dont care about the reg or have no regard for authority, its that THEY ARE NOT INFORMED!!! Leaders are not putting out the information, the ones I have corrected, simply look at me like its the first time they heard of this, like I am telling them something out of this world...so they dont know, they dont know about the headphones, they dont know about the backpacks, they dont know about the headgear hanging out their pockets...I know this is the reason b/c I have even seen LTs doing the whole backpack thing and they had no clue it was wrong, but when I saw them the next day they were doing it right.

Its because they are letting them do it in Basic Training thats why. You go to a Basic Training post now and thats all you see is PVT's with head phones and cell phones everywhere! And the first thing you are breifed when you get there is to leave them alone because they are allowed to do this.
So its just going to get worse because they are constantly softening regs so these whiny PVTs will be happy.
And I just got here to Ft. Leonard Wood for school and you talk to any drill and this is their favorite saying- " If your not a PVT or a civilian you have no power on this post" And these are drills saying this. So its not that drills walk by and dont want to say anything its because these PVTs have all the power and are allowed to do these things that are making our army look undisciplined and ate up! so in turn they carry this mindset to their new units..
No they are not allowed to do this in BCT b/c you dont see any Basic Training PVTs with headphones...its the AIT "PSGs" and "Squad Leaders" that are letting them do this....

When I say Basic Training I am talking about Basic and AIT combined, there is no difference to me, because the majority of PVTs on this post are OSUT. So sorry you seem to think you know everything but actually Basic Training PVTs on this post get to use those items when they are on pass. So stay in your lane and stop trying to correct someone when you have no knowledge to back up what your saying.

Take your own advice, and use the proper terminology, and there wouldn't be a problem.

Yeah depends on the MOS they are in. Some get more than others. From my understanding after talking to the drills, Chem, Trans, get more than the MPs. And dont forget a pass doesnt mean just off post, theres passes to the PX, the movies and then the off post passes.
<uncivil comment removed> I am only talking about the current post that I am cuttently at, not every basic training post.
