Career counseling sessions are required to be conducted for all Soldiers in the rank of SSG and below not in an indefinite status.
Because of the new 24-month reenlistment window, the exact times have changed.
With Career Counselor - Within 30 days of assignment to unit (all Soldiers)
With Career Counselor - 90-120 days after assignment to unit (all Soldiers)
With Commander - Annually on BASD anniversary (All Soldiers)
With Commander - 26 months prior to ETS (all Soldiers not serving on indefinite reenlistments)
With Career Counselor - 24-25 months prior to ETS (all Soldiers not serving on indefinite reenlistments)
With Career Counselor - 16-18 months prior to ETS (all Soldiers not serving on indefinite reenlistments)
With Career Counselor - 12-13 months prior to ETS (all Soldiers not serving on indefinite reenlistments)
With Career Counselor - 7 months prior to ETS (all Soldiers not serving on indefinite reenlistments)
With Reserve Counselor - 180 days prior to ETS or beginning of transition leave
With Career Counselor - 60-90 days after reenlistment (all Soldiers)
With Career Counselor - 60-90 days prior to PCS/Leave/Training Start Date or Transition Leave/ETS (all Soldiers)
I'm not sure why the Career Counselor is not going to see the Soldier, but why are you not taking the Soldier to see the Career Counselor. This is your job. You are charged with assisting the entire retention process.
