Ok, So recently in recruiting i recieved a relief packet. And came down on orders for a new duty assignment outside of recruiting. I am an 11B first off. So, the other day my first sergeant sits me down and tells me that my ncoer isnt going to look good and he HAD to give me a needs improvement block because the CSM told him so. There is NOOOOO counseling anywhere that supports any type of bad NCOER. I was not a super outstanding recruiter (because recruiting isnt for everyone) but they were talking about giving me 4 blocks. And i have moved from my orginal REC. station to the Company HQ to another REC. station and back to the HQ. They made the SFC in charge of my orginal station write the NCOER, and he hasnt seen me in a year! Now, my question is.. If you dont have the counseling to support a crappy NCOER, is that justifible reasoning to send up a red flag and ask WTF? Or is Not getting a Change of rater NCOER for everytime that i moved from another station to another, and having some other NCO write mine that wasnt really involed with my rated time enough reason? I PCS in a month and i feel like i am being jerked around from some crappy, lazy NCO's. Any advice and pinpoint paragraph's in FM or AR's would be very helpful.

alright man while i do sympathize with your situation from what i can gather is that there are more than one lazy nco involved in this situation you being one of them i mean da 623-3 is only 103 pages and ar 623-3 ain;t that large either so you can either help your self out and look up the info or take a bad ncoer your choice

Dark Threat,

The regs are not that big and if you have been in the Army for a while then you should be able to read them and make sense of them. No where in the reg does it say you have to get a good NCOER if there is no counseling. You won't find it. What you need to do is talk to your rating chain. If they agree with the CSM then you pretty much have to go with the flow. You pretty much have to go with the flow anyway, there is an appeal process that you can go through if you feel that you were unjustly rated. If you win the appeal that NCOER will be taken off your records.

Now your leadership is wrong for not counseling you. I am not a recruiter and I hopefully won't become one. I don't know what it takes to get a relief paket but it doesn't sound very good. You should tell everyone what the packet was for and why it went down the way it did.

It sounds to me that you are leaving some information out. I am a Senior NCO and I have seen what you are going through but at the end of the day it is about how well you performed your duties and you said yourself that you didn't do that great of a job. A 4 block is a career ender so I would go talk with your rating chain and sit down with the CSM to talk about his comment.

Long story short... my relief was for being a ineffective recruiter. At the 6-month newe recruiter board, the leadership opted to send me back to my original MOS because they said recruiting wasnt for me. But they kept me out here and i just had a really hard time adjusting to the whole recruiting thing. So, my numbers really started to struggle, regardless of any amount of retraining that took place. So they finally got fed up and "took me off numbers", and waited for orders. And then follows the bad NCOER.

Also, i am not LAZY asshole. I read the regs, i just thought that maybe there was something that i was missing or maybe havent read. I have looked through the Recruiting FM's and AR's as well as the "regular army" ones as well. I thought as "NCO's" we could put our minds together and come up with some HELPFUL info and not talk shit.
