i have an ssg in a PSG position due to that the PSG has been in school for over 4mths and wont be back for another mth. The SSG is the acting PSG would he get an NCOER as a PSG or just a annual and it will be annotated as a bullet that he was acting PSG during the 5mth period that he was.

if you have a SSG in a PSG position that means either you are the SSG and you are asking this, or we have a 1SG asking this, or are you the PL? Have you asked the 1SG? What posistion has been getting rated as? is he slotted for that position?is he the acting PSG or the PSG?

Lead by Example!!!

I'm asking this question for the SSG in this situation cause he is not sure if he would get rated as being a PSG unitl our actual PSG gets back from TDY. He's been holding the PSG position for the past 3mths but when our actual PSG gets back he will go back being a SQD LDR.

It is up to rating chain to make a decision on this. They could rate him as a Platoon Sergeant or annotate this time on his NCOER as "held the position of Platoon Sergeant for a period of 4 months without loss of continuity". This is totally up to the rating chain though. If he is not slotted as the Platoon Sergeant (ie..on his ERB) than there is no requirement for them to rate him as a Platoon Sergeant. Typically, the BN CSM approves duty positions within the Battalion. He or she might be the approving authority for which type of NCOER this SSG should recieve. You might want to let this SSG know to take it up through the NCOER support channel to get clarification. Question: is the SSG still maintaining his original duty position such as Section Chief or Squad Leader?

I would say it would be a bullet. Less than half his annual time is as an acting position.

Give you an example:

In Afghanistan I was the NCOIC of one field detention site near Pakistan. For a period of time the NCOIC of all of Regional Command East (four total facilities) was gone and I was in charge. My NCOER did not reflect that as my duty position but my award and a bullet on my NCOER did.
