What do you do when your Rater and Senior Rater have falsified Counseling Dates in Part III f ?
What if they never had an initial or later counseling, but just filled in the blanks?
Can the Rated Soldier sign in Part II e, if he knows that this is wrong?
What can happen if he/she does?
Should the Reviewer sign it, if he/she doesn't know about the circumstances yet?
What can happen if he/she does?

A good question TransAM95NCO. I doubt there would be any problem with fudged dates on a 1/1 NCOER. Another question I would ask is where is your trail of memorandums demanding your quarterly counselings. You didnt seem to mind that you didnt get them when they were due, why is such a big deal now? If you want good leadership, DEMAND it. If you asked for your counselings and they were never given, did you use your chain of command to report the problem?

I' ve had the same problem over my past two NCOERs. Never have I received any counseling Roll Eyes except maybe my first initial ever. I've even demanded it before and such and nothing turns about it. It really sucks when you have to ask your supervisors to do their dam job.

This works both ways as well.

tom86de, nothing is going to happen because 95% (this may be a little high) of the counseling dates are inaccurate or fudged. Unless our leaders are willing to do their jobs and actually sit down with their Soldiers, this will not change. How can our Soldiers have a measureable standard to "exceed" if they are not even told what the standard is?

I have 3 NCOER's and all the dates on all 3 are fudged. 2 are for COR and 1 is Annual. I am 1 blocked on my last two and 2 blocked on my very first one, saying that it was not a bad thing I was just a new NCO. I was also never sat down and talked to about the NCOER like I have been told they are supposed to. I have just been told, you need to come in and digitally sign your NCOER (once that started, so on my last 2)

My NOCER's generally have spoken for me as a counseling, stating I have worked with the FBI, Chief of Staff, and different Governors. (They wanted to 2 block that by the way. Roll Eyes but they couldn't thanks to the CSM)

Now I was just told yesterday that since my promotable status needs to be fixed (as in I need to get promotable) I was told no counselings would be an issue. I tend to disagree since I am in secondary nor primary but oh well.

Sorry for the side bar. Anyway write down what you do over the course of your rated period so that you have a record. I had to since I had to write one of my NCOER's for the rater (long story) If you really want to be counseled put your foot down and request it.

As for the reviewer signing it, my annual that I have is signed by a senior rater and reviewer that were deployed for 9 out of the 12 months, when I was still state side. You guessed it they both signed it. Anyone see anything semi wrong with that?

That's my point exactly. One of the reasons to ever want to become high in rank (E-7 and above) is to make sure counseling is being done. Not just to soldiers, but NCOs as well. My CC has no problem "reminding" NCOs when counselings are due to their soldiers, but they don't bother to see NCO quaterly counselings are done. I can understand if you're in a combat environment with missions day in and day out and you might not have time for this, but in a garrison environment? I don't see reasons for this to be happening.

Not counseling your Soldiers is just wrong.

Regardless of how many inaccurate dates I have placed on my NCOERS or how little I was actually counseled over my career, we need to stop making excuses and start taking care of our Soldiers' careers.

I know and share the old line ... "no one should care about my career more than me", and because I use this may be why I research all day long.

Because I was very rarely formally counseled and I was never spoken to be a Career Counselor prior to becoming a Career Counselor (except for reviewing my Career Counselor packet) is why I spend alot of time in this community and on my website. I feel it was an injustice to me and my career, but I did not dwell on it ... I decided to make a positive change.
