As I am an E7, I have always had the 1SG and BN CSM as my rater and senior rater. Under the new rating scheme just put out, the 1SG is my rater and our Company commander is my Senior rater with the BN Commander now as my reviewer. I can find no reference to officers rating nco's, so I am assuming thats not a problem. Is anyone else having an Officer rate them as an NCO?

Yes I work in the S-3 and my rater is a 1LT, Senior rater is my Major,and my reviewer is my BN Commander

I asked around and was told it was up to the BN Commander who is the reviewer. However, they are going to look into putting it back to the NCO's. I have nothing at all against the officers rating me, but the people I try to be like are the 1SG, SGM and the CSM's in my chain. They give me the advice on handling problems and where I need to improve, it follows they should be judging whether I am improving or not. My officers are fair, so I'll live with it either way.

Frankly, I'm surprised your 1SG is even in your rating chain. When I was a platoon sergeant in my last unit, my platoon leader was my rater, my senior rater was the commander, and the reviewer was the BN CDR.

Of course the 1SG and CSMs always have to have their hand in writing your NCOER, but I'm not really going to get into that in this particular thread.

My rater is my Platoon Leader/Co XO, my SR is my Co CDR, and my Reviewer is the BN XO.
Its fairly normal. I rarely see 1SGs rating personnel.

My rater is my section sergeant. My senior rater is my platoon sergeant and my reviewer is my PL.
