25B AIT at Ft. Gordon

I head out this Thursday the 21st for AIT. I have not been able to find answers to these questions anywhere, and no one in my unit can help me either.

I know I arrive at MEPS on Thursday in civvies. Do I also wear civvies to report to Ft. Gordon, or are we supposed to report in uniform? If so, which one?

I am flying from St. Louis. I am assuming I will go to the Atlanta airport, but am curious how we get to Ft. Gordon from there. Will there be people waiting at what ever my final destination is who takes us to the proper building to check in?

I am a glossary non-prior and just re-enlisted this past June. My state was not able to get me my full issue like they do at BCT. When I get to Ft. Gordon, will they issue me the items I need and allow me to exchange others (my state sent me a woodland camo BDU field jacket...)?

Thanks!

You can report to Gordon in civilian clothes.
BUT sometimes they say the "report date" is the day class starts. Plus you need to do in-processing. I would recommend going in ACUs first thing in the morning if you're reporting to Gordon on a weekday. Otherwise wear civvies.

Your ticket should be to the Augusta airport. When you get there, you could call the Bde duty driver and wait 30-300 minutes or just take a cab. (I'm exagerating a LITTLE there.) Keep the receipt, cabs will be paid back on your travel voucher. (and when you call for a taxi, always ask how much it will be Before you say ok or get in.)

Which MOS? Lots of info here: http://www.gordon.army.mil/sigbde15/

As far as clothing, that's a little trickier. If you have all your home unit paperwork and it just wasn't available somewhere else, you MIGHT be able to get it here. The people at Clothing/sales and CIF will hassle you but in the end do what they can..

let me know if you have other questions!

I don't have control as to what time of day I arrive at Gordon since I have to go through MEPS that day first. That being the case, should I still show up in ACUs?

I have the phone number for the BDE Duty office, so I will try that and also look at cab pricing.

I have read every part of the 15th Sig Reg website and also the sub-sites for the 447th for 25B.

Not sure what you mean for clothing about "If you have all your home unit paperwork and it just wasn't available somewhere else." What paperwork? Would a letter from my supply NCO explaining the situation suffice?

Thanks again

I'd keep a copy of all your CIF records.

If you're reporting between 0600-1730 Mon-Fri, I'd report in ACUs. Otherwise they're just going to sign you in and tell you when/where to report in the morning, I don't see any issues reporting in Civvies after hours. (shaven of course!) (I signed people in all the time while on Staff Duty. Bde just sends you to Bn. Bn should get your housing setup and tell you where to report.)

I know you want to just chill out after the planeride and everything, but I'd say go report the minute you can.
(switching to ACUs first if it's during the duty day. OR have ACUs in the top of your bag, put them on in the latrine at Bde staff duty, sign in. They'll get a duty driver to take you to Bn, and the taxis all know where Bde is.. )

I'll have to get with my supply NCO to get a copy of those CIF records. I have never received clothing records either time I have been in.

As far as dilly-dallying once I get off the plane, not going to happen! Why would I want to relax once I am off the plane? I want to get to post and sign in. I'd have been there last week if I could have! Honestly, if someone wants to "relax" after a plane ride before checking in to AIT, that doesn't say much to me about their motivation. You have the weekend off anyway because in-processing starts on Monday.

If I report in after duty hours, I don't think they will care if my legs are shaven or not Wink
