42A Security Clearence question

I had a question in regards to the requirements of a security clearence for my MOS as a 42A. I am required to have a security clearence NLT 2010 OCT but the problem is that my credit history will prevent me from getting one. What are my options at this point? Also would someone be able to point me in the direction of any regulations at this point in regards to my options for this situation?

Currently I have less than 2 years left and by the time 2010 OCT rolls around I will have about 13 months of my second enlistment left. I wasnt sure if I would be able to reclass or if I would be released from the military? I do know that this is the last of my enlistments.

Get all of your past-due stuff taken care of.
-Make minimum payments on ALL BILLS on time.
-If you can't meet the minimum, call up the creditors and explain that you can't meet the minimum now, you need some kind of lower payment. DON'T tell them you're in the Army. Just say you need lower payments until you can get caught up.

All three credit bureaus will give you one free credit report per year. Get yours, to make sure you're paid up on everything. https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

IF your clearance gets denied, you'll be given a short list of MOS to pick from to go reclass. If you don't have enough time left to reclass, they'll give you some krapjob outside of your regular MOS to work..

True- good advice.

I said not to tell them you're in the Army because some collectors know it's pretty easy to garnish Army wages, or write letters to your Commander..

The SCRA will only apply to credit card debt that was obtained prior to initial entry into the Armed Forces.
