I ETSed from active duty Army in Mar 2015 as an E4 and code 1 reenlistment, and my IRR status will remain until year 2020. I'm trying to go to active duty Army OCS, but recruiters told me that I can't since I'm still in IRR. They also said my only option is to join a reserve unit as an E4, become an officer, and then submit DA4187 to transfer to active duty. However, when I talked to ROTC program coordinators and National Guard units, they said I shouldn't have a problem joining their officer programs. Also, when I checked MILPER message, it doesn't mention anything about IRR status as a disqualification. Are active duty recruiters telling me the right info or feeding me with BS info? Thanks for your help.
