AAAHHHHHH!!!CA Officer needs helps getting into IRR!!!

Hello. I am a Civil Affairs CPT in the Army Reserves. I am attempting to transfer into IRR but am meeting resistance from the CA chain of command. The packet was started 17 Nov 2012 and has yet to make it past CA. I have not only completed my contractual obligation, 3 July 2012, but am now over by 1 year and 3 months. I am being told my reasons for wanting to go to IRR are too personal (contractual obligation met, career change, school, etc). Are there any others who have had the same issue? Any suggestions on how to move forward?

Direct reporting commands have a habit of thinking they are special. USACAPOC is quite notorious.

Meeting a service obligation is generally viewed as justification for the command to release you, not as an actual motivation to leave.

My best recommendation would be to illustrate how TPU service interferes with your civilian career and education goals via memorandum to the approving authority in your packet. Since your packet seems to already be at MSC, this advice may be too late.

Have you spoken with your servicing Officer Career Management team?
