Adverse Action after 'refusing' WLC

I have asked about WLC on here before, but my situation has developed pretty poorly. My TL is at a lose and advised I go to IG or JAG, but I don't want to do that if it isnt necessary or would be pointless.

Brief back story. PCS'd in April to new unit as a SPC/P with 3 years TIG. I enrolled in college after being told I would not be attending WLC until the fall. My 1SG decided he wanted me to go to WLC. At the pre-WLC brief the BDE CSM asked if anyone was enrolled in school. I said yes, he took me out of the course to finish the semester. When I got back to my unit my 1SG exploded, smoked my PSG, TL, and myself. I was mmediatley sent to the field and said I couldn't sign up for classes again until I completed WLC. I didn't really like how he handled the situation but he's the boss. I was then scheduled for late OCT WLC class date. Late SEPT date comes up. My name isn't on the list and the 1SG goes crazy again. The entire time I was told by my PSG that I was going to WLC in late OCT and was prepared to do so.

Here's where my problem is: They called me in the CO's office after the most recent incident. CO said he was going to bar me for refusing to go to WLC. I told him that I never refused, in fact I had asked to go when I got here, and that I felt I had been screwed over by a lot of miscommunication that was above my head. He agreed with me, slid empty bar paper work into his desk and told me that as long as I was in the OCT class that we would forget all about it. I then go to the field for two weeks. Upon returning, I check my ERB and notice an AA flag. S1 says its for refusing to go to WLC. The date on the flag is the week before my meeting with the CO. CO's answer was to put in paperwork to show the flag was 'erroneous' and have it removed (it knocked off my P status too). However, since the flag is still showing on my ERB the NCO academy won't accept it and the 1SG lost it again.

I realize they are trying to help me with career progression. I realize college is a distant second to the job. I desperatley want to advance. However, I feel like I am being targeted by the 1SG. I might be missing how flags work, but I also feel like the date descrepancy means I was deliberatley lied to. I hate causing trouble. I very much like being the quiet, dependable soldier. I don't see any good way out of this and I am really losing my motivation. Just wondering if you all had any thoughts. Apologies for the rant.

your 1SG probably just forgot you were taking classes and/or didn't know when you were scheduled for WLC..

-Did you tell your 1SG before you left to go to WLC you were in college?? Waiting to speak up never makes things better.

Talk with your leaders, talk with your 1SG. Sounds like your Commander will back you up but it will feel like backstabbing if you go to him/her without dealing with your NCO chain. Only go to your CO if you "have to".
Are you CONUS or OCONUS? To put simply, depending on unit SOP, failing to progress in your career is grounds for a bar to reenlist. If your COC makes it a priority, you should as well. Go to your schools NCO and get the dates for the next two classes and make sure there is nothing preventing your attendance. As far as your current flag situation, you will have to ride that out. It may involve extra duty, or you may get lucky and the CO remove it with the Z code (erroneous). If that happens, the erroneous MFR that goes to S1 should return your "p" status. When the pac clerk removes the flag in eMILPO, they can change your promotion status back to recommended.

BLUF, as soon as this flag comes off, follow your supervisor's plan of action. If you are in USAREUR, find me on global (Lamb, Mitchell W. SGT USA) and I will send you the dates and everything you would need to go as a walk on at the next class. If you are CONUS, have your TL take you to the S3 shop and see your schools NCO.

Though your S1 can add a "p" back by clicking all the right boxes, the new guidance is simply that if you lose your promotable status, you must be reboarded. You are no longer allowed to simply do an MFR and have your "p" put back on. A MILPER came out a month or so that explained all this.
