Any Current Info on Reclass to 42A?

I was there from Jan to Mar 2011. The classes are easy. You don't go to the field for very long if you have a good 1SG. You live in separate barracks from trainees. Depending on rank you may be staying in on-post lodging. You have alot of freetime and can do anything almost. You get put in passes every weekend if you dont have stay in the barracks over the weekend.

This is no longer the case.

The barracks are nicer than any that I have ever had to stay in for training. My room is pretty huge, and only have one roommate. I have a fridge and a microwave in my room, as well as a private bathroom.

After morning PT, we are on our own to clean-up, eat and get to school. After school we are once more on our own until 0545 the next day.

Weekends are entirely our own. You only need to submit a request for pass if you are going outside a certain distance from Ft. Jackson.

Everyone still pulls CQ or CQ Runner. Each floor has its own duty roster for sweeping, cleaning the laundry room, etc.

All in all, it's not too bad. It's more enjoyable than being at OCS, that's for sure!
