Change of rater or extended annual

Hello all, need some advise on NCOER...Here is my situation, last annual THRU date was 30 OCT 13. Getting ready to PCS 13th JAN 14, will be taking 40 days of leave (10 PTDY/30 ordinary). will be reporting FEB 22nd...Is it correct to do a change of rater since it's less than 90 days from my last THRU date? From what I've read and understood is a extended annual would be appropriate at my next unit covering my unrated time. What's you guys/gals take? All imput is welcome, Thank you

Your rating period will still be the same. You next NCOER will begin 31NOV2013. You will have a code of "Q" for lack of rating time, placed for your not rated time coveing 31NOV-Jan14 and then you will have a code "I" for In Transit to cover your leave, PTY and ETC. I've done this about 3 time in my career. Extended Annual would not work in your case.
