Packing List for Men for BCT

The Army will issue everything upon arrival at reception. Anything you do bring except your wallet(or religious necklace and wedding ring if you have one) will be locked away for your duration at Basic. Make sure to bring your debit card and/or checkbook. So with that being said pack light or close to nothing.
Skoal and Copenhagen....I kid,I kid. Things I would tell my future soldiers were to make sure you buy THICK flip flops. You may take great care of your feet, but someone else there will not, and the last thing you want is to accidentally step in a puddle that has a jellyfish floating in it. Some top notch razors as well. Cheap ones stand a good chance of messing up your face as some days you just may have to shave in the cold.

Or dry shave if you do not have enough time like I did a couple times.
Don't spend a lot at the reception PX/mini mall whatever it is. Bring a good, new pair of running shoes with you (wear them), some locks for your wall locker (one where the lock won't close unless the key is in it so you don't lock the keys in your locker) and some personal hygiene stuff and you'll be fine. I would probably only bring one extra set of clothes to change into as well.
Had to have all black flip flops, and running shoes could not be flashy or have flashy laces (which was the same in Huachuca for me) but you could have brought them with you beforehand.

I only say buy them before you get there because there's no need to spend 90 dollars on running shoes that will almost be worn out by the time you're done with basic.

Bring a change of socks, underwear, debit card/credit card, cell phone and cell phone charger. More than that and you're just begging for hurt.

well for one the guys is long gone, and two, he needs to bring a lot more stuff than that, FYI there is a packing list in the backpack you get when you enlist at MEPS!

You don't need to bring anything. You buy it all there, don't waste your time/money.

uhh yet another bad advice by this "armyvet" who is claiming to be a vet, cannot provide accurate information at all and then claims to know "what book cam is like" on the book he is SELLING then states he has nothing to gain or lose by doing this LOL....

I have a pair of Tac gloves from airsofting. They are the nice quality Oakley ones and I was wondering if they would let me use those for basic training.

99% chance that they won't let you use them. All items you bring that are civilian related will be locked up when you get to your actual basic training company.
My Two Cents:
Running shoes, mostly (85-100%) black OR white. There's nothing like paying $75 for a $25 pair of Asics at 30th AG BTN (or equivalent). Make sure they are new! Your reception DS's will check the wear.

Every cycle there are recruits that for some reason decide not to bring a cellphone, or no charger. Bring your cellphone AND charger, no question. Plus your debit card.

Shower shoes can be bought for cheap at reception. Stamps and envelopes can also. Buying the smallest denomination calling card is also a good idea (some companies prefer to allow payphone use versus cellphone use), buying the smallest denomination will allow you to figure that out without wasting money.

There's more than that, but it should be on your packing list within your $2 army strong backpack. Those are just things I wish peopel told me.

Good Luck

Oh geeze, that's horrible. Hahaha. I'd fall over laughing if a buddy came up and told me he stepped in a pile of someone else's fishies.

there is a list in your enlistment packet of what to bring. do your own homework because you have folks in these rooms who give erroneous/outdated information. google: items to take to army basic training.
