The ARMs test stands for Assesment of Recruit Motivation. It is a recinded program that allowed non prior service applicants who exceeded body fat percentages an opportunity to join the Army. It consisted of a timed, step excersise that was actually quite challenging. I had a few fat body applicants who quit 3 minutes into the practice ARMs test and I never saw them again. They are probally still sitting on the couch at the house eating Cheetos.
I took the ARMS test and it was quite challenging. You step up and down some tall stairs(tall for me at least-I'm 5'3")in a rythm that changes pace. You must keep in time. From one day to the next they had changed the taping procedure and the next day that I got taped at MEPS, I was over by one percent. Luckily the ARMS test was available. After I passed the test they told me I was the third person of many to actually pass the test at that MEPS. It was difficult but it was worth it. Once I got in I lost so much weight in training that by the time I got to my first duty station I met the weight standards.
I have a question. I think I'm getting lied cause I was told that they no one longer do the army's test cause I'm currently at 29% I'm just been a big kid all my life I've lost around 70 pounds dropped from 355 to 283 and I'm getting feed up and pissed off with the run around I'm getting from this guy.
